Back in my playing days, when I was lean, mobile and agile, I experimented with using my right foot and left foot when making the turn at first for second. Keeping in mind the way motorcycle racers lean into turns, I tried to do the same. I found that by leaning into the turn, hitting the inside corner with my left foot allowed me to make the turn faster and carry more speed through the turn. However, it depended on the field conditions and whether the bases were firmly in place for it to work.
