Ray,
even some colleges aren't looking as the SAT/ACt's as much as they used to, since many kids they have found are not good test takers. High School grades, involvement in school activities and others along with the tests, are starting to be looked at more rigorously.

As for contacting coaches, your team should be looking to play any exposure tournament they can, win lose or draw it doesn't matter, they want to see the girls. Then the girls need to be communicating with them via email stating their possible interest in the school, their possible major, school, summer, fall schedule, etc... They need to do it, not mom or dad..

The Queen of Diamonds North and South gave the girls great tools on how to do that. Because when your DD's go interview with the coaches, they want to see them be able to put sentences together and hold a meaningful conversation with them during that hour or so they are talking with your DD without the parents.

All college coaches will tell you the same thing, that speed can't be taught. Now it can be refined through training and proper running technique but that won't make someone who runs home to first at 3.0 ever go 2.65 and I've known coaches to go for an exceptionally fast girl as hard as recruiting the power hitter. If you can run with excetional speed AND hit with power then you have your foot in the door with most coaches.
