My DD learns that part of her swing has bat lag. I personally agree with that. She was told the other day by her rec ball coach that bat lag is not correct. Just curious on other opinions?

Hahaha...... now that's funny!LOL are you kidding me?. I cannot see how some people are allowed to coach or instruct. Time for a little clorox in the gene pool.

Maybe he meant bat drag is not correct which would be true. Here is a good video that shows what bat drag is so you know what to look for.

Believe it or not it was bat lag. She's been working with Steve Gambone from the 14u lady lasers. He'd have a fit if I told him. She just humors her rec coach and says.." ok, I got ya "......
I sort of have the same thing going on with the HS coach instructing or I should say yelling at my kid to have her bat flat when bunting. It is habit for her to angle the bat which is the only way she has been coached to do. Now if she pops one up in a game and gets yelled at - it's gonna irk me to say the least.
Reason #329 to avoid playing on two teams at the same time.
If you think she's confused now, wait until the end of the summer.
Quick ragging on rec ball coaches and go help them, the majority are doing it for the benefit of all the kids, not just theirs. I've coached HS, Travel and Select sports for over 30 years, and have been an organizational officer for community based rec as well. Rec coaches for the most part are inexperienced and need knowledge, but other than a few most do it because nobodyelse wants to step up. Most travel teams practice time is limited, so for those in the know offer your help on days when there is time. It's amazing how a little time invested in coaching the coach will benefit all the kids.
