So I think I need fired. I have coached my daughter for 7 years and she is great does 95% of things right and I dropped my first F-bomb of the season at her tonight. I hardly ever cuss around the girls but after several missed instructions I let it slip at my daughter. After I was still mad so I took myself off coaching the bases. Went and sat in dugout for an inning. Not right but in heat of moments things happen. Don't really think I need fired. The bigger question should be if it is a one time thing or frequent. I believe that is the real question.

Well, have you thought that maybe coaching her is becoming too taxing and you need a break? Perhaps stepping back and being a parent would be a better fit. Only reason I would suggest this is, when you enjoy something, that wouldn't provoke such an action. Besides, if a coach is cursing at their child, does that show a stronger interest in their own child, not the entire team? As a parent, it would make me wonder...

BTW, if a coach would do that in rec ball, it would most likely be a 2 game suspension, not one inning.

Somewhere between reality and winning the lottery.

Remember above all else, this is a kids GAME! There is no reason to get that upset over a simple game, unless you have $$ on it of course.

Kids will be kids no matter how good they are at something they know that there is more to life. Parents and coaches very often forget that fact and novice coaches think it reflects on them when a kid has a brain fart. I found that the kids feel bad enough when they know they screwed up, you as a coach need to help them get past it and go on without the stress. JMHO

Very well said! these kids already pound themselves pretty hard when the make a mistake. All cursing or yelling at the players usually does is shut them down. then they play tight and play to not make a mistake, which is in and of itself a mistake! there is a time and place to discuss errors with your players, it aint on the field of play in front of the opposing team, all the parents, etc.
don't get me wrong, there is a tme to have the hard talk with the player, it just shouldn't be public.
Like 3dm says, it happens. let em have some fun, nobody died because of an error, move on and lift your team up, DO NOT BROW BEAT THEM DOWN!

My simple rules:
1. Never say something on the field you wouldn't like if someone said it to your mom.
2. If it takes you longer to get over an error than it does the player - check yourself.
3. These are young woman looking up to you. Make sure you earn it.

Particularly item #2. S
I've seen this one stay with a coach for an entire tournament. What does that do? Has your players walking on eggs for sure. Tough to play good hard ball when all you can concentrate on is " I cannot make a mistake, I cannot make a mistake......."
