The Laser Blue opened pool play today in beautiful Colorado against the Surefire from California and the Colorado Springs Chill. Both ended in run rule wins for the Lasers. The only way this trip could get better is if the Bold1 were here. Played one round already Bold1 (Lucky took the first round, didn't want to risk the DD's playing time!) with another scheduled for the am tomorrow. We play tomorrow at 1:15 and 3pm. I will try to update more tomorrow.

Timmy,
I get off the phone with Tonya & we're leading Texas Elite Easton Gold.I get a call from the stands from JoeA,we're up 2-1 but bases are loaded,Joe gives me "play by play" as they hit ball down rightfield line that drops in,i told Joe,"I gotta go,i don't want to be blamed!! LOL

I know everytime i beat Lucky at golf,my DD sat next game,i had to much "pride" to take a dive on the golf course, heck with Kenz's playing time. ?

Tell all we said "Hey & Good Luck" stay away from "Campbells Whitewater Death Ride",its much safer to go up Pikes Pike(Just ask Anglefire's hubby).lol

Damn,i miss softball,mostily the peoples!! :'(

Laser Blue won their first game today against the Cincy Storm 4 to 3 then dropped their next two to a team from Texas and the other from St. Louis. Not a great day for the Laser Nation. Dugout Dan did have the OH - IO chant going. Time to regroup for the Ashland Qualifyer next weekend. The fireworks were great tonight here in Westminster. We missed you Bold1.

Ohio Heat Revolution, went 1-1 today.

We lost to Texas Glory after being moved in the brackets, being sent 1hour away to a new location and being rushed in warm ups, In 4 years we have never had such a foul up! I really think it was less error and more Texas Glory not wanting to play Texas Elite since they were from the same area in Texas. I don't know but supposely the pools win-loss was switched wednesday and the two effected teams did not catch it until today. Wow! I don't know about that.

We did bounce back and sent the Kansas Storm home during a rain delayed game- LOL. The sprinkles came on during the 4th and NOBODY could turn them off so we had to move to another field, then in the 6th guess what. Your right it happened again.

We play at 9:45am.

After a tough start, the SGS Magic rebounded by going 9 - 1 in bracket play. ?After winning their first 2 bracket games, they lost to a tough All-American Sports Academy (San Dieago, CA) team. ?They then went on a 7 game run through the consolations bracket which included a win in the rematch against the AASA team. ?The Magic beat the winners bracket champion Oklahoma Babes 9 - 0 in the first championship game and then held on for a 4 - 3 win in the second championship game of the 16U Pikes Peak Bracket.

We played 14 games in the tournament against some outstanding competition. ?Several of our girls also played in all-star games during the event. ?Although we had a blast out here and I am proud of the girls for battling back to win a very tough tournament, we are all ready to get back home.

See you all soon!

PS ?Thanks to Joe A. for taking time to watch one of our games.

Most of us are back home now (I just woke up from a much needed nap) and we have been receiving plenty of congratulations from many. I just want to take a minute to thank everyone for their support of our girls and give you a bit of a run down on our experience.

We headed out to Colorado not having any idea how we would do but we did want to play well to represent Ohio as best we could. We actually talked about that fact in every pregame talk and it meant a lot to us.

We found ourselves in a pretty tough pool (although we didn't know it at the time). We were kind of down after pool play as we lost a couple of very close games but as we started watching the brackets unfold and every team from our pool advancing pretty deep in to the tournament we felt a little better about our performance. We actually lost to the top bracket champion Corona Wildcats in a heartbreaking 7th inning 3 - 2 loss.

It did take us a bit of time to adjust to things out there. The diamonds were extremely hard which really affects the infield play (we had more errors in our first 3 games than we had had in our previous 25 games combined). It was hot - between 90 and 98 every day although there wasn't much humidity which made it bearable. I dont think the altitude was as big of a deal as we thought that it would be. The pitching was in most cases, but not always just a little bit better than we have seen around home but the speed that we saw was the differentiator. We learned very quickly how difficult it is to defend against the speed that some of the teams possessed. The games that we lost were to teams that were able to pressure us constantly with their speed. We heard from many coaches that we were one of the best hitting teams they had seen which seemed to be shocking to them as we heard numerous times "where are you guys from?" and based on our statistics, I would have to agree (I know I am biased). We had 10 homeruns vs 2 allowed and 8 triples vs none allowed we out hit our opponents by an average of 11 to 3 per game. But, I would also say that although we have some very good athletes on our team, we may have been one of the slowest teams there and that did hurt us to some extent.

All-in-all it was a great experience for our girls and families. We got to play 19 games (no rain shortened games for those of you that suffered through those experiences back home) over a 1 week period against a very different kind of competition in a very different environment. I think that we will be a better team from the experience and I would recommend it to anyone considering it in the future.

Again, thanks for all of the positive support for our girls. It did help.

Thanks for the report coach. Sounds like you guys had a great time and did very well. I am glad to hear you guys were one of the best hitting teams out there, because you guys are the best hitting team we had faced so far this year and that makes me feel better lol ;D
