Congratulations 16U OFC Heat on another win today!

Todays win puts them in the top 16 out of over 125 teams at the Colorado Sparkler Tournament. They have beaten teams from California, Oklahoma, Kansas and Minnesota.

Way to go ladies! You are representing Ohio well!

Bob Burlew is the coach of this team.

Sorry, I'm not in Co, so I am not sure how the Lasers are doing. I do know that at one point in the tourney they were playing at a field next to the Cincy Storm and both teams were chanting back and forth..... O H I O Ohio... Way to let people know that the Midwest can play ball too!!

Congrats to all the Ohio teams that made the effort to go to Colorado, it is an opportunity not enough girls are given in Ohio!!

In the past the Jim Donovan took his Ohio Lady Thunder teams and this is the 4th time a Cincy Storm team has played in the Sparkler, it is an accomplishment to finish in the top 20 of any of these tournaments and the consensus amongst many is that there is no clear cut "best" among these tournaments any longer with all 3 tournaments being extremely competitive, congrats to Bob and his girls, we finished 9th in the 16u last year and it was a challenge.

Last time I checked the OFC Heat and Louisville Lady Sluggers in 16u and Elite Blue and Louisville Lady Sluggers in 18u were doing very well, after a great start with wins over Az Roadrunners and Nebraska A's the Cincy Storm ended up their trip getting knocked out of the Platinum bracket Friday, last I heard they were headed into the mountains to go rafting, whatever the result the trip is well worth it for any team looking to play the best competition available.

If any team wants help with planning this trip or wants to know about the logistics of this trip just write me I will hlep any way I can with contacts and information, it looks like next year we will be sending 3 Cincy Storm teams to the Sparkler, 2 16u(1 16u and a 14u playing up) and an 18u.

After a year off, and with the ok of those darned doctors I am looking forward to getting back to Colorado for the 4th next year.

Good luck to all the area teams in Colorado, and congratualtions again in making the trip.

The three tournaments that are held in Colorado this week of or before the 4th every year are, in order of existence:

Coloardo Fireworks - Aurora, Colorado
Boulder Independence Day (Indy) - Boulder Colorado
Colorado Sparkler - Westminster Colorado

The Sparkler is the "new kid on the block", but has rapidly grown in quantity and quality of teams, the others have been around for a long time, the fireworks will allow you to have a limited amount of players that are not 2007 and later graduates and NO college students. The others are more relaxed.

Triple Crown Sports runs and sponsors the Sparkler, there are NFCA "RUN" recruiting camps in conjunction with the Sparkler and Fireworks, and an NFCA "sponsored" camp with the Indy.

Hope this answers your question? If you have any more please ask.

Latest info from today is that OFC Heat ended up 7th out of 126 teams. Last we heard Louisville Sluggers were still in the hunt. Congrats to all Ohio teams for representing this area extremely well in this high calibre tournament.

Louisville Lady Sluggers lost in the final four this afternoon, but came back and won their first loser bracket game against the IL Thunder. They play the SD Thunder at 8 am with four games to go in the Platinum Division for the Championships! Only four teams remain!

GO Sluggers!!!
