I think with the extra costs involved, I am going to stick with the 3 pool play single elim format.

I am still looking for 16U teams for my tournament

Many teams would not play in a double elim. tournament. The appeal for many teams is the guarantee on 3 to 5 games. Two and out would be a miserable weekend for those teams. I feel certain you would see fewer teams enter a double elim. tournament.

Don't most double elim tourneys start with a couple of pool games that aren't eliminators?? Then you go into double elim and you get a 4gg.

Am I missing something?

If i was doing a double elim tournament with a 4gg then it would have been 2 pool play into the double elim brackets

When you do a 2 game pool and then double elim and you have more than 8 teams in a age group and if you have several age groups, and depending on the number of fields , you almost have to start the event on Friday and play at least one of the pool games and maybe both on Friday. I always find it handy to look at a double elim bracket and put times in to see where it takes me.

You can almost count on your schedule getting messed up becasue you are going to get some tied games that can take several innings to play and the further into the bracket, the less likely you will see run ruled games.

Like Cincy Storm, I see the value in playing in at least a couple of double elim events a year, especially if you are planning to go to Nationals and play that format. I can understand that some teams do not pursue playing in national events so the double elimination format may not be appealing to them.
