I see Stefanich from Johnstown listed in one of the offensive categories but not in pitching, girl is a dynamite thrower going D1 , is she not throwing in HS this spring

She splits equal mound time with Maddi Lusk (another dynamite pitcher) and has done so throughout both HS careers. Lusk used to pitch for Stingrays and Nitro - not sure where's she's been the last couple of summers.

Must be tough to be the Johnstown coach ;)

See where Lusk is going to YSU and Stefanich is going to Eastern Mich , two D1 pitchers on a HS staff and not ranked ? is Johnstown D1 or D2 ? I know about ranking , they can be really off ( former # 1 ranked team in d4 didnt win their conference of d4 teams, finished 2 games back . )

I believe I heard Stefanich is actually going to Western Michigan. As for Johnstown, they are D1 and I can only assume there isn't much behind them. Tough area too with Delaware and Mt Vernon close by.

Yes, she is going to Western Michigan. Johnstown is actually DIII and plays in LCL. They have tough schedule. They ran into BC and Alvelo in districts the last few years. They are good, should make run in D3 this year.

Talk about flying under the radar .. LOL . They would have to have a seriously weak supporting group not to be ranked in d3 with 2 stud pitchers like that.

I haven't looked at rankings lately. Mostly a popularity contest anyways. The rankings rarely match the outcome on the field. Jtown has dropped a couple of heartbreakers. Lost close games to New Albany, Lakewood, DeSales, Granville, Watkins, Cardington. They play tougher schedule than 99.9% of D3 teams. They do have nice supporting cast too. I have feeling they will get their props come tourney time and be thankful they played the strong schedule....which is obviously more important than any mid-season ranking.

The Licking County League is FULL of Talent. Don't understand why Vierstra (2017- Hebron, Lakewood) and Brandon (2018-Watkins Memorial) aren't mentioned in the same breath as the Johnstown Ladies. Both Beat Johnstown. Watkins is DI, Lakewood is DII and Johnstown is DIII. One of the toughest leagues in Ohio. Vierstra is Miami of Ohio bound and Brandon hasn't made a commitment. I look for the LCL to make some noise. Lusk (2016) has been with Lasers Red for several years. Vierstra is with Lasers Purple and Brandon Plays for Heath Crush. Stefanich (2017) was with the Stingrays, not sure now. It is worth checking the records of these teams in non-conference games. The LCL gets no love, even after taking a DII or DIII championships 5 out of the last 7 years.....

I don't think anyone was overlooking the two excellent pitchers you mentioned. They get tons of respect around here. The conversation was just about Jtown pitching staff, that's all.

Appreciate that ace636. The thread was about "Central Ohio Leaders from the Dispatch" it morphed into a discussion about the Jtown pitching staff.

The reason Watkins and Lakewood do so well is they play like a team, act like a team and if you watch them you will see they do it for each other. They do not play to be an "Area Leader". Watkins has come from the Cellar and challenged the entire LCL. A lot of that credit goes to coaching, teamwork and Carly has improved dramatically. It shows in wins and losses.

My point was really about the LCL as a whole. Sorry to morph the discussion once again...

Just to set things straight, the OP asked for the info and then asked about Stefanich because he had been recruiting her for college ball. It wasn't a comparison about who's who in the LCL.

Anyway, Stefanich has played for Shep and Static Blue the past 2 season and going on 3. Awesome kid, wonderful parents and just an all around great get for WMU.
