Lots to report : all games were 1 hr time limit.

In a quarter final game the Doom 96 and laser black did their normal routine , ITB for the 3rd time in 2 weeks . Black came out on top 1-0 . Super pitching from both B miller and T alvelo. these 2 teams go tooth and nail every time out.

Doom 95 over Hawks 95 6-0. Koch throws a shutout.

In a very tight game Buckeye heat won a ITB game against the Dragons.

In one semi final the game was closer than an ITB game -- How's that possible ? ERM came within 16 seconds of beating Laser Black 2-1 , but a new inning got started and laser black came back to win 3-2 I think. Got to give a huge shout out to ERM --very very classy move by not stalling even a second against laser black. They could have easily ran out the clock but played it straight ( maybe even fast ?) . the ump missed a call that would have expired the last few seconds also . the 3rd out that inning was recorded on a ball that clearly hit the batter in the box before rolling into fair territory to make the 3rd out. Lefty for EMR was very very good. good comeback from the black. never stopped competing.

The buckeye heat- dragon quarter took so long to finish (double ITB) that doom 95 allowed BH to move into the finals without playing the other semi final game. Had we not done that there would have been no time for a championship game, or a coin flip would have had to be done, or something crazy like a 20-25 min game.

I got a text that said Black over BH-95 3-0 in the final. Don't know how much time they had to get that game in . hopefully they got an hour at least. MD

Dan you are right, Tim B and his EMR team played a great game and finished the inning without regard to time. Classy.

Speaking of cats, I want to know if the Cooper's ended up taking home the park stray? Looked like John was losing the battle when I left.

I am WAY too late in posting our appreciation to the entire Doom organization and specifically the Cincy Doom 95 team for the fantastic job you did last weekend (that blankety blank day job keeps getting in the way).

One fact may appear in the 14U scores (which I haven't yet reviewed), but I think it deserves a very big kudo on this general thread regarding the tournament. Because of the rain delays, it became clear that the 14U bracket would not be able to play out completely before darkness. Doug and his team, prompted by a parent suggestion, withdrew from semi-final competition so that 14U bracket play would produce a champion without a coin toss or other nonsense. Let me phrase this differently: what was clearly the #1 team in the 14U tournament withdrew for the integrity of the tournament. No parents whining, rather one of them actually suggested this resolution. A teeny part of me is ticked that a team already having an overwhelming advantage (because of its quality) in recruiting gets another bump based on this decision (j/k :yahoo but 99.9% of me is in awe of the way that the Cincy Doom 14U team and the entire organization last weekend emphasized its commitment to Ohio fastpitch over its self-interest.
