Why would anyone let their dd play for a coach who gets tossed from games EVERY weekend for arguing with blue about every silly little thing that bothers him? I witnessed this coach's behavior over the weekend and he proved all of the rumors to be true. I was told that he was tossed from 3 games in this tourney alone. He yelled "illegal pitch" while our pitcher was in her wind-up after the umps told him that she was legal. He shook hands with our girls after the game that our team won, but then pulled his hand away from our coaches and walked away. When asked why, he said "I don't have time for you, you piece of excrement." His players were right there and it is 16U - not that it would be OK for any age. These girls are talented and could make many travel teams.

I wouldn't let my daughter play for that team. I don't know why anyone else would either, unless his team wins and that's all the parents care about. If he treats another coach that way, I can't imagine how he'd treat his girls for a mistake on the field.

never fails to amaze me how many coaches lack "tact" in trying to get a call or change an umps mind about how big the corner the should be or whether a girl is legal or not. A quiet polite questioning inbetween innings usually works best. Ask for a call --don't demand it and by all means DON"T MAKE ENEMIES !

My DD would not want to play for a guy with issues like that. I cant believe there is an organization that lets him represent them in that manner, let alone his DD and wife.

Sounds like a real joy to play. Surprises me sometimes who they let coach.

My dd plays on an 18u rec league. Last night our team played with 2 girls that are going to be juniors, 1 that is going to be a sophmore,7 incoming freshman and 1 going into the 8th grade. We were up against a local hs team with none younger than 15 would be my guess.

In all the years that I have watched softball I have never witnessed a worse group of unsportsmanlike young ladies, fans and coaches. I'm not sure if they were just upset that we pitched an 8th grader for a few innings that they couldn't dominate, or that that couldn't dominate any of the incoming freshman pitchers. We won the first game and tied the second. A base runner tried to instigate an actual fist fight with a 14 year old pitcher (both ended up thrown from the game). Base runners tried to take out our 13 yo 2nd baseman with an elbow on the way through first base, and another tried to take out a junior ss by lowering her shoulder going to second base. Not sure what all their dugout was 'smacking' about, but finally one of their coaches yelled at his girls knock it off and show some class! After the game (coaches, players, and fans surrounded the umpire and threatened him with violence (who of course did nothing but make bad calls against them).

It amazes me that they are allowed to coach students. I'd say they were young ladies but that is not what I saw. What I saw was a team of female thugs!!

NE Ohio. Was just supposed of be a friendly rec game. We don't go anywhere from here. There are no play offs that I am aware of, not trophy or anything. It was totally sad. :(

It was definitely an interesting evening to say the least. It all started over what may or may not have been a bad call in the first game. Then the almost brawl at home plate was because the pitcher fell over the runner stealing home on a passed ball. Granted our pitched gave lots of attitude back but only after the runner got in her face. That wasn't the most shocking though. The aftermath was instigated by a coach against the ump. He kept getting in his face and wouldn't back off. Finally we yelled for a few of our dad to go over to difuse the situation. I stayed way back as it was the most immature behavior by coaches I have ever seen in my life. The only good thing I can say is that they obviously aren't the school HS coaches since they aren't allowed to coach off season. It will be an interesting experience when we play them on their fields. I hope that the adults will behave like they should and set some examples but at least we know where the girls learned it....from the lovely parents who were staring down our girls and fans as the left the parking lot....LOL~

Unbelievable stuff....

No Way in He@@ my kid would play for the first post. The rest of the stuff is just nuts...

Its a game people, nothing more.... Play hard, slide hard, help up the other player and move on... nothing more

On a lighter side, Saw one the other day where a batter picked up the catchers helmet after a good attempt and shook dirt from it and gave it back, always see catchers getting the batters bat, but 1st time the other way around. Sportsmanship and class first, leave the attitudes at home....

I am always amazed that parents let coaches act in a way that we would not allow a classroom teacher to behave.

My father would not of let me play one minute for this guy and he would have had no problem telling him why.

It could possibly be the HS coach. We are in that period where they are allowed 10 contact days. Our coach uses his 10 days in the HS league in Central Ohio.

If the director, league or tournament, would take action early, then a lot of this can be avoided. Post the rules of conduct in the information packet. THAT IS THEIR WARNING. For the first offense, the parties are ask to leave. The second offense, the team is ask to leave. If either refuse, the property representitive informs them that they are now trespassing and they will be going to jail. It works really well. Everyone seems to come away with a better attitude once the police action comes into play.

As a site manager several years ago, I was making the rounds of the fields and came upon a 10U game in which the coaches and the parents were jawing back and forth across the field. In between innings, I called both head coaches together behind home plate and informed them that their behavior was unacceptable and that they have this inning to get their act together and to get their parents under control or that both coaching staffs would be ejected from the tournament and that I will get some college kids to coach their teams. Everyone came out of that with a much better attitude. Heavy handed??? Probably. Did it accomplish the objective? Yes. It is kind of like the movie Roadhouse. We will be nice up to the point where we need to not be nice.

Last year, there was a coach that got ejected during pre-game warm-ups for dropping the f-bomb when he almost got hit with a throw. The ump heard him and gave him the heave-ho. Everyone was warned about the use of profanity. The coach was not a happy camper.

This is probley the best way to handle it.(see above)
I did notice alot of these posts were from school ball and rec ball.It should not be tolerated at any level. My dd s coaches act well all the time and carry themselves with pride and dignaty(so what I cant spell). They set the example as to how the players are to act.I would have to say I have no complaints with the way most the coaches that I have seen this year. But it only takes one bad apple.......

Where's the harm? As long as there's no profanity and no punches thrown, these guys are actually quite entertaining and usually harmless! Nothing like a "coach tossing" to spice up the game! At least you know where these idiots stand! They sure won't get bloody toes from walking the PC fence!!! :lmao:

If anything, it makes for a great lesson for the girls when an adult makes an a$$ of themselves like that. I just consider it bonus entertainment - kinda like fireworks after a baseball game!

I will not disclose any names even though the coach probably cannot read well enough to get on OFC.

This coach has ran off quite a few in his day, but people continue to let their DD's play for him. You know what they say about red heads though.;&

The only time I ever got thrown out of a game really left a bad taste in my mouth for tournament directors. I was in a tournament (I won't say which one) and we were playing a team that was VERY well known throughout Ohio. We were in our first year but were doing well against them and they didn't like that. Their scorekeeper was the coaches wife and the biggest loudmouth I have ever heard. She heckled our players from the 2nd inning on, calling us names and telling us how much we stunk and had no right to be on the same field as them. After listening to this garbage for an inning, I told the umpire that he needed to shut her up, she was starting to effect my players with the name calling. After he said nothing to her and she continued belittling my players, a few parents approached me and said if that woman called their daughters fat a$$es one more time, they were pulling their kids off the field and going home. I again told the umpire my concerns and he said if I open my mouth again, I was gone. I told him that I was not arguing any call or judgement, I just wanted him to stop that woman from calling a bunch of 12 year olds names and cussing at them. He threw me out instead of her and when I tried to talk to the tournament director about it, he wouldn't even talk to me. I understand that most of the time the ejections are legit, but to throw a coach out for defending thier players against an adult with no sense is crazy. Then to have the TD not even let you explain your side is even worse. I never went back to that tournament and told everyone I know what a joke it was.
