I've been knocking on my head ever since, just wishing for sunny skies and temps in the mid 70's. BTW, is there any truth to the rumor that there might be a 12U "B" division added for this tourney? I know of a team from up north that would definately be interested...lol. ;)

Let's not go there....

Any 12u thoughts? Anyone? Because I was suprised and ?shocked that the Ohio Ice managed to win the tournament and werent even considered amongst the top 5 in the state. First no rain then this little team the Ohio Ice comes out of nowhere and manages to win the tournament, that is crazy!

I thought the 12u divison was very deep and saw some great games. We were involved with 3 nailbiters with the MOV Fury, Buckeye Heat and Stingrays. I know there were many other 1 run or extra inning games. Ohio Ice, MOV Fury and Lasers Orange all are great teams. Then about half dozen very good ones after that.

I very much enjoyed the tournament and competition. The only complaint I had was in the 12u division on Saturday had a couple occasions where teams had back to back games at 2 different locations. After 1 game ended had to jump into cars and drive to the other location pile out and play again. This really put the schedule behind about an hour.

I would like compliment the gentleman who was in charge at the 12u site at Arrowhead. He was a hustler and on top of everything.

bmstrlfn,

What poll are you using. We know the Ohio Ice is tough. ?They have thumped us twice this year so far. ?They won the Columbus NSA and finished 2nd at the NSA State. ?A great team with good people.

The MOV Flamin Fury is another great team. ?They proved it this last weekend also.

The 12U field had some great competition. ?Even though we did not get as far as we would have liked, it was a great weekend for fastpitch. ?

12u Finals - For anyone who was unable to stick around for the semi & final, what a couple of great games from teams who left it on the field. As a "casually" interested parent & spectator (this time anyways), I saw:

Semi: MOV Flaming Fury beat Lasers Orange in a pressure cooker, 3-2. Both teams had multiple opportunities to add runs and had each other constantly under pressure. This was the game where MOV showed their heart in holding on, and tough loss for a hard fighting Orange team that was consistently knocking on the door one hit wawy (few inches on a few occasions) from a big inning. I think the parents were as exhausted as the players after giving it all too - lots of volume and intensity (the good kind).

Final: MOV may have spent too much though to get there. After battling tough with the Ice thru 3-4 innings and rallying back from a 3-1 deficit with 4 runs including a 3 run bomb from the 1B (with great effort from others as well), it appeared MOV was in control with momentum and the lead in the middle of the game. Ice answered the bell though and put together several big innings capping one off with a grand salami, and banging a few others out to the fence. In the end it was (approximately) 14-6 or thereabouts, but a MUCH better game than the score would indicate. Three over the fence (Ice 2, MOV 1), and lots of great effort, enthusiasm, intensity, civility - a fitting end in the 12u.

Names of the long ball "heroes" purposely ommitted in deference to the others who were important in setting the table, but there were a few BOMBS, and they were timely & dramatic, T-E-A-M. Great entertainment.

?My poll came from this very thread, maybe you should drop that question on "oldtimer". I saw a list of teams considered the favorite to win this tournament at 12u, the Ohio Ice was not mentioned! I was just suprised that one of those top 5 didn't win it all. Nice job to the Ohio Ice you came from seemingly nowhere to win a big tournament and weren't even considered a top 5 team. And it didn't rain! Miracles never cease. ?:-X ;)

There were a few of us scratching our heads with oldetimers selections. ?2 of the five were there though.

I do not like to post predictions. Must be my military upbringing but I like to fly under the radar. Predictions are like painting a target on your forehead. But, they are fun to read. ;D

bmstlrfn,

Thank you for the kind words. ?The competition was very good this weekend. ?We tip our hats to all the teams that participated. ?Not being listed on "Oldtimer's" top five played a key role to our success. ?Next we travel to the Stingray Invitational, in Columbus. ?Hopefully, more miracles, "like NO rain" will happen once more. ?However, an "Ice Storm" would be nice. LOL.....

The 12u Ice proved they are a top notch 12u team this weekend, just as they did in the NSA states. ?It was no slight to them ?- ?just tried to get interest flowing! ?

Congrats to the Ice on a great weekend in a tough tournament!

Clark, glad I could be of assistance for the "motivation"! Seriously, they could of won without my post - and believe me they will never by counted out again!!! :)

oldetimer,

no problem. It is interesting to watch though. If you are at the Stingrays Tournament this week, look me up. I'll be at Coffey Fields Friday and Saturday. I'm the big, tall guy. I'll be by the tents/concession when we are not playing.

Stingrays Blue had two close games that they didn't pull out at the end. One with the Ice and one with the Classics, who it seems they always have great one run games with eachother. A Great pitchers duel on both sides and two nice shots by the Classics to win in their home final at bat. Each game is more fun to watch as they get more exciting. Nice job ladies and as someone else wrote you were due and you brought it.

I won't be in attendance for the Stingray tourney as I have prior commitments in Cincy and Raliegh NC. I should be around for Berliner later this month.

Looking at the pools, the Rays tourney will be a great one to see - winners will earn this one! Good Luck!

Yes the Ohio Ice 12U should never be counted out as they are very solid 1-10 and have 2 very good pitchers. The Laser Orange is another team that seems to always find a way to win the close games and when they do all the sudden it's 5 nothing. Oh well we have more work to do.

But both these teams have ?really good girls and parents that I enjoyed talking to this weekend. The Lasers-Ohio Ice game was one of the best if not the best game I have seen at the 12U level. ?
