"What have you done for me lately" ... works in coaching decisions, and friendships sometimes also.

As much as we all search for the Utopia of teams ... coaching + talent + no drama + parents bonding (yes, it can happen) ... travel/tournament fastpith is like a carnival traveling town to town each weekend ... and guess what? ... we are the Carnies

..... not that anything is wrong with that (for those of you that actually do work in a Carnival). ;&

Never really thought of it that way before. Not sure how I feel about being a "carnie" but I think I can live with it! LOL

After one has been in the travel softball world for more than a couple of years, you get to know a lot of kids and families. You get to know their good and their bad.

Coaches do exchange info, when ask. I have not seen one freely discuss a former player (I'm sure there are some out there, but I haven't seen one yet). But the fact is, coaches do exchange info.

It happens in all facets of life. In the world of Army Aviation, it is a somewhat small world. When we would hear that Joe Smoe (the aviator with a severe attitude problem) is coming to our location, we (the Battalion Commander and I) would confer with the divisional assignments officer to ensure that he was not assigned to our unit. Conversely, if we knew that Eddie Rickenbacker (an aviator that always goes above and beyond to get the job accomplished and never complains) was coming, then we would confer to get him assigned to our unit.

Back to Scott's original question.....I haven't run across someone that has done that. But if they do, then it is a severe case of "Hoof in Mouth" disease. And I would also consider this "defecating in your mess kit."

I saw this thread and couldn't resist posting what happened today with Flamin Fury 16U. Just finished a tournament in Buffalo, WV, where we won the Championship game 1-0 over the WV Extreme. Not sure what part of WV they are from, but I have never heard such obscenities coming from the dugout from the team, and then from the parents. A couple of girls threw helmets during pool play on the playing field, after being called out, again followed by very vulgar language. Not sure why the umpires didn't eject any of the Extreme's girls, except maybe they were afraid of a brawl. He did tell the parent's to keep their comments to themselves. Very poor sportsmanship!!!!! I don't know if they go into Ohio to play or stay in WV, but if anyone comes against them, BEWARE!!!!
