You are absolutely correct, I do not want Blue making leaps. I want the rules interpreted as written, nothing more, nothing less.
I guess it would go a long way if they clearly stated what a legally hit ball was or even if they took the approach that USSSA did and spelled it out, but they didn't. I think it is very wrong to assume that because it is clear in USSSA that that means the same thing in ASA or NSA. As we all know they all have their unique differences.
I am enjoying the debate though.
Debate?????? This is not a debate. This is cut and dry...one way only. At least with a debate there are two sides. This is definitely one sided...per the rule book.
BATTED BALL A batted ball is any ball that hits the bat or is hit by the bat and lands either in fair or foul territory. No intent to hit the ball is necessary.
A strike is called by the umpire...for each pitched ball swung at and missed which touches any part of the batter.
No assumptions........just the rules.
