My problem is the exact opposite. We are subbing for a travel team that asked us to join them. We were already committed to a rec team, so many times we go to rec practice and games and miss out on travel team practices and games. We go with who we committed to first. When it comes to tourney time, my DD doesn't seem to sit the bench enough. She starts over kids that attend more practices and have paid more money. I've even threatened the coaches that if she doesn't sit, we might have to fake an injury. My kid knows that she doesn't deserve all the playing time she is getting. Yes, she has talent and great work ethic, but serious rules need to be put into place so that those that want to take advantage of the situation are also held accountable. We use any organized activity as a life lesson. With every action, there are consequences. Let your team know them ahead of time and you shouldn't have any problems. When I coached basketball, it killed me to never start our most talented player. She went to ****** before coming late to practice every week. You show up late, you don't start. You miss, you don't play.
