Gonna try to get money raised for our school to have real homerun fence, and was wondering what the dimensions of some of the high school fences out there

I have seen way too many 180' fences this year. I think that is the state minimum but it turns an average fly ball into a dinger many times. My own opinion is that they should be 190 down the lines and 205 to straight away CF.

Ours is 200 ft. all the way around and 6 ft. high. Only 3 hit over it so far. I do like that it prevents the "rolling" homeruns.

I like the 200'-205' fences also but maybe not 6ft high. Some of those fences are way too close and make it too easy to go over.

We have security fence up now about 300 to center and 240 down lines None hit out this year. Last year our catcher hit 1 or 2 out

NFHS says:

ART. 3 . . .
Recommended field distances are designated as follows:

a. From home plate to the nearest obstruction on fair ground may uniformly range from:
1. 185 feet-235 feet for female or male fast pitch
2. 250 feet-275 feet for female slow pitch
3. 275 feet-300 feet for male slow pitch

b. From the top of the outfield fence to the ground should be 6 feet to 8 feet

c. Outside (foul ground) the foul lines and between home plate and the backstop ? an unobstructed area with a distance of 25 feet to 30 feet

d. On-deck circles shall be a safe distance from home plate with a recommended distance of 30 feet, if space allows.

e. The width of all chalk lines is recommended at 2 1/2 inches.

These are just recommendations but as you can see, it leaves for a lot of leeway.

You will need at least this much fence (foul pole to foul pole) for each distance from home:

Distance/Amount of fence
200' / 320'
210' / 336'
220' / 352'
230' / 368'

Beavercreek is 208 all the way round and 6 feet high--a couple have gone out this year--may have had more but BHS top player was unable to play because of shoulder surgery. A couple of weeks ago a 14U player hit one out as well during a tournament.

You may also want to keep tournament play in mind as well when deciding

I swear that field looks bigger than 208, i always thought it was at least 215 or 220

Beavercreeks fences are just about perfect. It takes a legit smack to hit it over the fence.

The player was actually from the 12U Cincy Doom playing up in the 14U at that tournament. The Doom also had a girl hit one about 1ft. from the top of the fence in a later game in that same tournament.
