Paul , i agree with you 100%, you build your varsity team with jv. this makes me think they dont care about thier softball program, thats how i take it anyway. i know of several high schools that do fundraisers just for the softball program. i also know that this district has 9 or 10 girls that play travel ball that are in the 8th grade right now. ive heard all this thru other people and im waiting for the outcome. i want to know if they plan on having a jv next year? BUILD YOUR PROGRAM COACH

New High school here, no Seniors, will have three teams with just enough on each. All skill levels of players--- long distance travel, local travel and rec. Build for the future with pulling some up and down regularly to get experience of Varsity for the future... This is the 3rd HS in town the coach has opened, so he has experience doing it. Only two years left with our last one, so we are going to sit back and enjoy it....

Might have to adopt another one...:)

Gonna hijack this thread for a second. You must be a Bradley parent. Welcome to the OCC Capital. Come introduce yourself on 4/19. My dd is the WM pitcher.

We started this spring w/only 22 girls. 2 of them decided that they didn't want to participate, so now we are down to 20. We keep the schedules the same, but cancelled the jv double-headers because jv only has 9 (will have 10 as soon as one girl gets the ok from the doctor for a sore ankle) players. That gives varsity 12-13 on the weekends. You got to let the kids play...give them the swings, and innings they need to improve and learn the game. We also didn't want to drop the jv schedule because the girls we have are dedicated to each other, the program, and the coaching staff...we felt it was our responsibility to make sure they got to play as much as possible. Many of the jv girls had to pay the huge fees last year ($450) due to the levy problems and didn't get much playing time. The fees are dramatically less now, but that just shows their dedication! I owe it to them.

Well most of the problem is gone now, our AD resigned. I know this does not help the girls for this year but maybe next year. Maybe this is why we have not had a meeting yet that I have asked for 4 times now. Still working on the issue though and we will see what all happens from this mess of a school board. My next step will be the Principal and then the Superintendant. Goodluck to all the highschool teams this year.
