Recently my DD started complaining about a popping sound in the collar bone area of her throwing shoulder. When she would make the throwing motion her clavicle woud protrude forward in a very noticeable manner. After a week off we tested it out and it came back and this time there was some pain involved so we shut it down and went to the ortho...
After examination the doc put her in a sling and ordered a CT scan because the xray was not definitive. His diagnosis is SC joint instability and he called the injury 'potentially career ending'
SC joint are usually injured in a traumatic way like a car wreck...she has had no trauma.
The other possible explanation is a growth plate fracture at the SC joint which can mimick an SC joint dislocation in that the clavical will float forward with over head arm movements.
Has anybody out there ever gone through either of these injuries? I can't accept this would be the end of the road for my DD at 13...?
