Looking at the current forcast for our first hs game...35 . The forecast for the second game? Yep, you guessed it 35 .

Change it to fall.

Here too. Are you also scheduled to get the 1/2 inch of ice-sleet-frozen rain **** we're supposed to get tonight? Yeah (sarcasm).

I know this horse is pretty dead, but I will beat it some more. I probably am in the minority, but I do not believe that we should move softball to the fall. Our travel team plays fall tournaments in September and October...and it has been COLD. If we mirror the seasons, February would Equal July. Last week of that month would be pitchers and catchers (assuming they keep that period and would allow the start in July). At any rate March would be the practice month that would correspond to August. April would be September. May 7 would start Sectionals, so the second week of October would be sectionals. That means Dsitricts in the third week of October, Regionals at the end and teh state tournament played in November. I understand that not every team makes it far in the tournament (but most teams still have games to play after their tournament run), but I would NOT want the STate Championship of softball being played in colder weather.

Here is the breakdown of temps in Columbus with average highs and rainfall

March/August 52/83 Avg precip in inches 2.89/3.72
April/September 63/77 3.25/2.92
May/October 73/65 3.88/2.3
June/November 81/52 4.07/3.1

I prefer starting in colder weather and finishing in the warm! JMHO

The season would actually start the week before school starts which means DH could be played and you could have as many as 8 - 11 games in before school starts. State tournament would be no later than 2nd week of Oct. not to mention I don't believe the weather would be much different than Colorado at that time. With that being said it will never happen.
