Congratulations Lasers Silver on your 16 under championship. What an embarrassing end to the tournament on the field with two Outlaw Teams playing against each other. Harbold and two others getting kicked out the park due to bad language and yelling at umpires. This is just the reason why we have a shortage on umpires now. Glad all the coaches that your two teams had following you guys left on Saturday. Coaches and fans have to be better in front of the girls!

Our team had lost and we stuck around to watch Outlaws Harbold vs Outlaws Shep. No one should ever condone coaches doing this and they should have been kicked out. But both umpires had zero control of the game. Yes, they were missing some very bad and easy calls, but they let that game get out of hand. The shortage of umpires is a real concern. I am not sure if this was just a one-time thing with this umpire, but it seemed like this wasn't their thing. In the end, Outlaws Shep won and they deserved it despite the incredibly bad calls and the behavior of the coaches. Coaches and umpires just need to be better.

I don't like the focus gets taken away from a great run that two 06 teams made in the 16u tourney, which is supposed to be a top tourney in Ohio!

It should also be pointed out, Shep's team wasn't any part of the way the other team was acting. I have never seen a team, coaches and fans act they way Harbold and his team did. They should be embarrassed and ashamed that the team followed the coaches lead, cussing and carrying on and directly cussing at Shep's players on the field. Also would not come out and shake hands after the game ended! The umpires were apologizing to the players for the way the Harbold team was acting!

Wow....you'd think a premier organization, with a reputation for recruiting, would vet the coaches better than that. Hope there is more to the story, love to here his side of it.

Usually coaches who do this, do it often, and its part of their DNA. Hope this was an anomaly. Teams take on the personality of the coach in most cases.

Sad for the girls, they are the only ones that matter, it should not be about the coaches.

Oh I’m sure then is a video, but they probably don’t want it to be seen. Especially by prospective college coach’s that may want to recruit there players.
If you go to YouTube and search Ohio outlaws Harbold. There are a couple of video’s from this weekends Lazers tournament, just not that game.
Gee I wonder why‍♂️

We played Shep's team Friday and nothing but class acts. Great kids and no issues with parents or coaches.

My only complaint about Lasers was one set of umpires late in the day Sunday. 2 old boys that was out on the turf 3 games straight (1 x 3 ITB game) and by the time we got them they missed everything! For both sides. It was bad. Not why we lost. Just couldn't get going that game and Ran out of time.

LOL....you sure like stirring the pot! Here are some facts for you. Outlaws Harbold hasn't posted a game on YouTube in over a year. The one game from this weekend on there was posted by their opponent. It is all very clear right there (dates of the games). Don't understand why people are like this....but so be it.

No idea on some of this stuff....but there was a Outlaws Harbold player laying on her back in their dugout with a medical issue and their players were around her concerned about her when Outlaws Shep was yelling to shake hands. Heck in our games some teams still weren't even shaking hands still because of COVID.

It amazes me how some coaches blame the umps and bad calls every time things don’t go their way. I’ve seen this so many times even by my own kids coaches, and it’s really sad on so many levels. Coaches need to realize the “old boys” do this because they love it. Without the “old boys”, your girls wouldn’t be playing ball. These “old boys” have families and sometimes miss sporting events of their own kids to ump your games. Most these “old boys” have FT jobs and still want to ump your games on very little pay in very hot temperatures. It hits close to home because I happen to personally know who the “old boys” Passion for the Game is referring to and I know exactly what happened on all the “bad” calls by the “old boys”. Those “old boys” come home exhausted for $40 a game not because they need the money but because they love the game.

It was probably another opponent posting. You can clearly see that haven't posted 1 game since last summer.

Did I say that's why our team lost a game? NO NOT even close. We simply couldn't get going and ran out of time point blank.

At some point umpires need to realize they are too old to do 4-6 games straight on 120 degree turf. That's the issue. Not that they are bad umpires or they are not appreciated by us coaches but sometimes you need to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough. The heat gets to you and bad calls are made on both sides, and I am sorry $40 is not going to make or break the bank.

We make sure umpires know they are welcomed to cold waters or Gatorades from our team cooler every game.

So my opinion those "old boys" should worry about their health and not kill themselves doing 4 games in 120 heat on the turf. Listen its different to have someone out there making bad calls and wanting to get out of the heat. Basically just there cause they need the $40. Compare that to some of the other great umpires we had over the weekend. No missed calls and form was great. always in the right spots but look at the age of those umps too. They all 30s and 40s compared to 60s and probably 70s. There's games these older umpires can do just not 4 deep on a Sunday. Keep them on Friday and Saturday games.

All in All Umpires are part of the game. They are human and will make mistakes. I do my best to treat every umpire as i want to be treated and have our Athletes do the same.

You are absolutely right, as far as umpires don’t need to be doing 4 games in a row on turf when it’s 90 out. A 3 man rotation is ideal, 2 games on 1 game off. But unfortunately with as big a tournament as Lazers is 30 some odd fields going as once that is just not possible.
What ends up happening, somebody get’s hurt, someone doesn’t show, so a 3 man rotation turn into 2 guys iron man a field and that’s not good for anybody involved ie players, coachs, umpires.

Let’s back up here. Ok this happened Sunday. The one day coaches care about the bad calls. Late in the day (after 2:30pm) and a lot of fields are cleared and no games going on. All I’m saying is the best guys and gals should be umpiring games on Sundays.

Directors might need to pony up a few more dollars and weed some of the bad umpires out.
