Let’s back up here. Ok this happened Sunday. The one day coaches care about the bad calls. Late in the day (after 2:30pm) and a lot of fields are cleared and no games going on. All I’m saying is the best guys and gals should be umpiring games on Sundays.

Directors might need to pony up a few more dollars and weed some of the bad umpires out.

There simply aren't enough umpires to do this. One of the days at Lasers I saw one particular umpire who has actually been banned from our local rec league because his grasp of the rules and mechanics is so far below a minimally functional level.

Why don’t you do this, whenever your done coaching. You obviously have a passion for the game. Why don’t you go get a umpire license, u trip, usa, nsa, ncaa it doesn’t matter.
And you will see that umpireing is not as easy as everybody thinks it is.

I have umpired quite a lot. I understand it’s not easy. Hints the reason I treat them with respect. They are part of the game. But thanks for planning my future in the game.

What I think is a better solution and I’ve seen some tournaments do it. Is once you get late in the day on Sunday say the quarter finals on, is use 3 umpires per field. That way even if it’s the 4 or 5 game of the day for the umpires and they are not moving as well as they were the first game. Allot less stuff would get “ missed”.

Not a bad idea, plus maybe some umpires will learn from each other as well. Umpirs and coaches show stay "coachable", I know I am always learning.

ALL IN ALL this was a Great event with a TON of solid teams and great competition and a whole lot of College coaches.

If a coach wants to act a certain way that's on them and their organization. I don't feel it was a good idea to come on here and bash and bad mouth them. They made the mistake and have to learn from it not us. I'm not saying its ok to bad mouth umpires, coaches, parents, and or players but we also don't have all the facts of what exactly happened. Regardless of what happened or didn't happen its never ok to cuss out players, coaches, or umpires.

I can say I have always had good interactions with Tom and the little with Shep has been fine too. I respect both these guys as they play at a high level and their teams always bring it.

Shep's 06 team is Legit. Congratulations to them and Lasers Silver for going to the Ship on Sunday.

Carsyn Cassidy is the real deal ladies and gentlemen. That kid has a bright future. I will go as far to say we will probably see her in the State championship game the next 3 years with Watkins.
