Life Lessons Learned from the DD

All this talk about parent misbehavior led to a little self-reflection and it occurred to me that my 15 year old pitcher/utility darling is pretty wise. She has witty wisdoms to combat the parental units? car-ride rants. (Yes, we do have personal misadventures but save most of them for the car where they cannot be witnessed by college coaches or team members).

Pretty wise words to be applied to any aspect of life. . .

?Because the ump says so? regarding questionable calls and strike zones
?The ball just needed to? regarding wild pitches (after all, even pros have an off pitch occasionally)
?It just is? regarding any loss or bad play

My 12 year old dd was pitching and had a great response in a game a few weeks ago. The coaches were slightly frustrated with the umpire and in turn the umpire was frustrated with the coaches. The coaches didn't feel that the umpire was calling her corners. So when blue brushed off the plate my daughter very politely and respectfully said, "thank you, blue". Needless to say, the coaches were humbled and she gained an enormous amount of respect from that umpire. I was a proud momma!!

Most kids have it together and keep things in proper perspective. Sadly, many parents don't.
