Looking for a Pitching coach in the Akron area. My daughter has been pitching for 3 years now. She had a shoulder injury in the fall, and we are now looking for a new pitching coach. Any suggestions?

Tammy Stires. Better than Alana from what I hear. Tammy won 2 state titles at Tallmadge HS and was a spot pitcher at Kent State. Struck out Veronica Nelson 3 times in one game whe KSU played Cal. Shes awesome!

Isn't Tammy YOUR girl friend? Is that what makes her better than Alana???

Billy ... none of my business (other than that my DD is also a pitching coach a little farther north), and shouldn't have to say it at all, but a good way to make enemies and not pick up any business for your girlfriend is to trash someone else as a skills coach. If you want to advertise someone you know, by all means do it, but don't make statements that the person you recommend is better than someone else's ... geesh ...

I think we've found our next Daddy Dice / Scott Cilenti...

So true coachjwb!! Billy, My dd doesn't go to Alana. We live closer to another coach, but, Alana is the real deal !!! She was a great pitcher and the kids I see that go to her develop nicely. Don't trash someone on here, especially in favor of your girlfriend. You seem to want to stir the pot a lot, which isn't good !!! OFC is a good community of people that are passionate about the game. If you did your homework, you wouldn't have made such a statement regarding Alana Barker.

Not to nit-pick or anything, but Alanna won 4 state championships at Springfield. Not too shabby.

Billy is making quite a name for himself in the softball world. Not only does he like to trash talk others, he has managed to burn through, what, 5 teams in less than a year? Taking people’s money and threatening to bench players and not release them so they are forced to walk away with no money. I have kept my voice very quiet on here in regards to you, but you sir are dishonest and unkind. You can't even find yourself a rec ball coaching gig because the rec leagues in the area know about you! Don't trash Alana, she is a great coach and an even better person....2 things you know nothing about!!!

Just when you think someone can't put their foot in their mouth anymore than they already have.....Billy comes along and amazes us all. How ignorant!!! Alanna was a 4 time state champion STARTING pitcher at Springfield as well as continuing on with a VERY successful 4 year college career at Ohio University I believe. She has more than made a name for herself in this sport so before you open your pie hole about something you have no idea about, I suggest you do some research or just keep your ignorant comments to yourself.

I would definitely recommend Alana Barker over Tammy Stires. The numbers don't lie, she actually won FOUR state championships for Springfield HS (if you want to throw out numbers). Our daughter has been going to Alana for instruction about six months now. Her speed has increased about 15-20 mph and is hitting locations at about 70% now. It is amazing during that time that she has improved so much. I have personally seen the kids that Tammy has coached and did NOT see any improvement in their pitching during a 5 month period of time. However, I would suggest researching BOTH names - Google them and see who comes up in more articles.... Also, I can't remember Alana ever pitching to a 11 year old batter and hitting her in the rib cage.... guessing the recommendation for Tammy is due to needing some extra cash for your bills.... since coaching is not paying well these days...

I would agree that trash talking Alana is wrong. But isn't trash talking Tammy just as bad? Let's be adults. Just FYI, My daughter went to Tammy for a while before she decided to catch (instead of pitch) and I was very pleased. Just sayin'. I hate seeing someone get beat up on here when they didn't even say anything. Tammy is a good person. Billy07 made the comment. Not Tammy. Be nice kids.
