Just went to see Alanna last night and came away very impressed. We love her personality and my daughter really likes her.

Plus, my daughter has a little of an old school pitching style, which happens to be the same style that Alanna was taught and had success doing. The fact that my kid is built similiar to Alanna and Alanna threw 65mph, encourages my daughter to not worry that she is not going to be 6ft 200lbs. She picked up on everything that we need worked on and did not know how to fix ourselves, without us having to tell her what we needed. We have looked for quite a while to find a coach that would work with her style and not rework everything.

We plan on going back as soon as we can work out a schedule.

Gotta thank this posting for getting us to Alanna!

Well said....And to me that is about the biggest part of this whole thing, finding a coach who A. Knows what they are doing , an B. Finding one who gets my daughter. My daughter has been seeing Amanda Macenko for about 1 1/2 years and has made great strides not only because she knows what she is doing but because my daughter is also comfortable with her. What and who works for one may not be good for another.

I will stay out of the controversy with some of the comments in this thread...I am sure both are very good at what they do... but I do want to share an experience I had recently with Alanna. Alanna coaches one of my pitchers on my 10u travel team. Recently I received a call, out of the blue, from Alanna introducing herself to me and wanting to speak with me about her student. My pitchers' parents gave Alanna my phone number.... Anyhow, I was very impressed with the fact that Alanna cared enough about her student to reach out to her team's coach to discuss her progress, mechanics, etc. She gave me a heads up to what they are working on, the type of pitches she is throwing, and the fundamental points that affect her performance. As a coach I was very impressed that someone as busy as Alanna would take the time to show that much interest in one of her students. It tells me that she is interested in more than a paycheck but rather genuinely loves what she does and the kids lives that she plays a part in. Ok...nothing mean...no flames. Just my two cents.

That is great. Did she ask you to keep her updated on how she is doing in the games, like hitting the location on the pitches called? That is one thing a parent cannot take back to an instructor unless they call the pitches. Either way sounds like she cares.

I agree. One of my players also goes to Alanna and we are in regular contact regarding her progress. She is more than happy to talk to me and share rationale for why she is teaching what she is teaching. It really is the kind of partnership a team coach needs to have with private instructors.
