I had a chance to see Dave Paetkau, hitting instructor work with the Greenville girls. I took several of my girls to him. He does a great job and works well with the girls. He has played the game and understands how to hit fast pitch. I can't wait to see him again.

The weather should be cold but no snow is in the forecast. Thanks to all who are attending this year.

Thank you to everyone who helped out in getting this clinic put together. Watching the RVP in action is really something. To see your DD's swing next to the best and see where she needs to improve is priceless. Watching Howard do what he does best and teach the girls the foundation of hitting was excellent. Marc really put the girls through a tough workout. I know some of them were sore when I saw them Sunday at the HIT Center. And Paetkau was fun to watch. He is great to talk with and has a ton of knowledge that we tapped in to.
Thank you Derek for putting this all together and making it work for the girls in our little corner of Ohio. I can't wait for the next one!

The Hawks are trying to change things one piece at a time....Derek thank you for putting this together for everyone in the area and the thankless hours you spend away from your family to improve the fast pitch community as to knowledge and diversity.

Having parents come from Atlanta, Bowling Green and Pittsburgh tells you they want to learn!

Doug thanks for putting Derek in charge and letting him steer the ship so to speak!

You have had Coach Candrea here and now Don Slaught who agree pretty much on everything since they work together with Coach Enquist!

What have we learned from having Coach Candrea and Don Slaught here to present their views? Good question!

In my opinion, many still are behind what the major colleges teach and practice and in my opinion fail to implement what the best of the best teach!

I thought Don's presentation was simple and easy to follow....how many choose to follow or make excuses not to follow makes it easy to understand why some of the information will be ignored!

However after talking to many parents during and after the clinic, I see a paradigm shift in the way hitting mechanics can be taught and the athletes can learn!

Thanks again for inviting me to present and allowing me to gain more insight with Marc, Dave and Don! :D

Dan (SBfamily) and Chris (Hitter23) and lemmings, thanks for help at the stations.

Strobro thanks for getting things set up at short notice.

Bad Eye thanks for the water! :lmao:

Thanks to all the players, coaches and parents that attended this year's clinic! I get the priveledge of meeting some great people from all over each clinic we do!

Thanks for the kind words Howard and Mark we would of not pulled it off with out you both. Thanks to Badeye and Dan as they jumped right in and helped where needed. A big thanks to Chris Bower who stepped up and helped out with the class room session registration/direction and sacrificed his old body with the rest of the above during the player's session.

An honorable mention to Scott Herman for being the safety monitor. :)

It has been humbling to be around the instructors such as Bill Hillhouse, Deb Hartwig, Sherell Vance, Howard Kobata, Mike Candrea, Dave Paetkau, Marc Dagenais, Don Slaught and "Howard". The biggest draw back to hosting these clinics is that I miss most of the instruction and depend on dinner and car time with the instructors to catch up. I am in awe of the knowledge of the instructors and touched by not only their love for the game but the kids that play it. Howard C. cares for our players here and their well being and I personally am thankfull that we have him. I have seen a similar sparkle in the other instructors eyes when they are working with the players. Truly Awesome!

Thank you to the Hawks' org for the time and making the financial commitment to put on these clinics. Thanks to the Hawks players and coaches that participated in each of the clinics.

All the best,
Derek

P.S. Catchers, do not miss the catchers only camp we are doing in February with Dave and Jay Weaver from the New England Catching Camp.

Bravo to the Ohio Hawks. Thank you for putting on an excellent clinic. What a great combination of instructors, they were incredible and went above and beyond in sharing information. Very cool to have my daughters swing evaluated by Don Slaught's software and he took the time to make sure she saw what she was doing and what slight changes she might make. Lots of great information and instruction from Coach's Paetkau and Deganais. My husband took what appears to be volumes of notes. At one point we were even lucky enough to "hijack" them a ride back to the hotel with us and pick their brains even more!

Can't say enough about Coach Carrier - I'm a huge fan of his out here on the forums. He's a coach that really knows how to talk to these girls at their level. Didn't expect to see him at the hitting lessons the next day it was a very cool bonus and once again he was very generous with his time. I even bought a huge mirror when I got home and we put it up in front of our batting station Howard and it really helps. Nothing on the web site about the public being able to attend your Clinic here in WPA- would have been nice because it's VERY close to home. But we're coming back to Ohio to see you and Crystal anyway. We were already registered at the Clinic in Northern Ohio in Feb and looking forward to it.

The Hawk Coaches are extremely hospitable and generous. Very nice bunch of guys. You should be very proud of your girls as well. They made our daughter Mina feel welcome - like she was part of the team during the lessons the next day with Coaches Paetkau and Deganais. We had hoped to come back and see you for the catching clinic because Coach Weaver is the absolute BEST. We did a week in the summer with him and NH and it was awesome! But we'll be at a tournament that same weekend so we have to pass on this one.

I do hope to see some of your guys up here at the Triple Threat next weekend. Have them come find me at the registration desk.

Wishing you a successful season!

Warmly,

Paula, Coach Chris and Mina Shaw
