The 2013 Mid-West Fall Signature Showcase is in its 5th year. This event in Columbus Ohio is hosted and managed by Fastpitch Headquarters and Miami Valley Sports Foundation. The managing personnel of these organizations have almost 3 decades of experience in running reputable tournaments and recruiting events. Our goal is to make the Mid-West Signature Showcase a phenomenal event for your team.
This tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 - 6, 2013 at Lou Berliner Park in Columbus, Ohio which is the largest softball complex in the country. The format is pool play, and each team will be guaranteed 5 games, weather permitting.

Welcome to the 2013 Mid-West Fall Signature Showcase

We are very excited about this year's Mid-West Fall Signature Showcase in Columbus Ohio on October 5-6, and we welcome you and your team to this year's event. We would like to take this opportunity to communicate some important tournament information to you.



APOLOGY FROM TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR
I would like to take a quick moment to apologize for a lack of communication this year. I have experienced some personal issues this year that have distracted me but I am catching up. This year's event will go off without a hitch! I do deeply care about this event and about your players, so I thank you for your patience.

TOURNAMENT WEBPAGE
Please check the tournament webpage often to get the most current information about the event. And we recommend that you let your players and their parents know about the website also. It can save you a lot of questions. The website is www.signatureshowcases.com and you link over to "Our Tournaments" and you will find the tournament listed. The site will be updated this week with the game schedule and other information about the event.

ASA SANCTION
If you have not already sanctioned your team with ASA, please be sure to go to your state ASA website and sanction your team. You do not need an official roster, but you will need to show proof of sanction prior to play. You can email a copy of your proof of sanction to us, or you can bring it to check-in. But please do not forget to get this to us.


INSURANCE

We need to receive a copy of your certificate of insurance prior to play. You can email a copy to us, or you can bring it to check-in. We would prefer to receive this in advance but in the least please do not forget to bring this to check-in.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

It is required that all teams more than 2 hours from Columbus book hotels through our housing authority, The Zenith Group. You can go to their website at www.thezenithgrp.com and link to the "FPHQ Tournaments & Events" or you can call Ken Broadbent at 1-800-476-0542 or email him at kbroadbent@thezenithgrp.com. There is no charge for this service. They have some great properties and rates available.

Please encourage your parents and fans to use The Zenith Group too. The more hotel room nights that we use at our tournament hotels the more discounted rooms we can get for the college coaches. And that will help us bring more coaches to the tournament.

FPALERTS
You need to subscribe at least one cell phone on your team (preferably the head coach or manager) with FPAlerts in order to receive our text messages. This is an easy process. Please see the attached FPAlerts Instruction sheet. You can actually give this sheet to all of your players and/or their parents, and have them all subscribe too as there is no cost for this service. It could save you some phone calls!

But speaking of saving phone calls, you might be interested in signing up for a FPAlert account for your team. Wouldn't it be great to be able to send one message and EVERYONE on your team is notified?? The fee for a team account is $10, which is a one-time fee forever. No message fees, no subscriber fees, no renewal fees. This is a wonderful communication tool that will save you a lot of time. You can get more information on this in your Member Area on Fastpitch Headquarters website.

PLAYER PROFILES
Since we are marketing this event to college coaches, we will need you to submit your team player profiles online asap. I am attaching a Player Profile Instruction sheet that will help you through the process. Many of you have done this in the past so you already have accounts.


Take some time to follow along with the instructions and most of your questions will be answered. But if you have any problem at all, or any question, please call me at 954-540-7850 cell.

The deadline for profiles is September 29.



And to help you collect the information from your players, I have attached a Team Player Profile Worksheet. I suggest that you give one to each of your players, have them fill it out and return it to you right away. It will make the profile input process much easier.

MARKETING TO THE COLLEGE COACHES
You need to make sure that your players are contacting the colleges in which they are interested and letting them know that you are playing in this event. Your communications to the coaches combined with our communications with the coaches will help to get the coaches to your games.

GAME SCHEDULE
We plan to have the schedule completed by tomorrow. We had a couple of late add teams. Keep in mind that there are NO GAMES ON FRIDAY, and all teams (unless previously discussed) should be prepared to play at 8am on Saturday. Games are a full 7 innings.

DIRECTIONS TO THE PARK
We have directions to the park on the tournament webpage, and there is a printable file available for downloading. There also is a Field Diagram Map so you know what is where.

TOURNAMENT RULES
On the tournament website, you can download a printable copy of our tournament rules that has the information about Extended Play and Situation Play. There is a lot of information in this file so please be sure to review this before the tournament.

From now on, you can expect to regularly receive additional emails from us, so look for those. We really try to keep you updated as much as possible as to what is going on with the event.
