College coaches make it to Berliner for the Mid / West at Berliner?

There were some coaches there but to be honest, I was not impressed at all. There were not even enough teams to fill 2 quads during most of the day. In past years tons of coaches, lots of high end teams and most important great umpires. This year, a few coaches, avg umpires at best, confussion in seeding and field numbers. Very odd for this tournament. Our team played well, but not impressed with this compared to past years. Don't get me wrong, Many great teams but nothing like the past years. My opinion.

Yeah, the tournament this year did not appear to be marketed as well as in years past, probably due to the TD's need to focus priorities elsewhere that could not be ignored. That being said, all of the games got played thanks to the turf fields. I was not looking for college coaches, but I do know Ashland was there because someone pointed it out to me. I also noticed a few other coaches walking around but did not focus on them enough to determine which colleges they represented. I was too busy looking up at the ominous clouds....lol.

college coaches go watch kids they are interested in ..if the teams that were present did not have a strong following, then that is why there were few coaches. I've seen numerous college coaches at friendlies put together by high level teams. there were several showcases in the Midwest area this past weekend and i'm guessing coaches went out to the showcase that had a larger percentage of the kids they were interested in.

The list of teams attending looked good. Was there a winner or did they not keep score?

I saw Ashland, Otterbein, Defiance and a few others.....not as many as I've seen in the past. Like Len said, the clouds from hell commanded more attention than the coaches walking around.

The girls also have to do their homework and let the colleges they are interested in know where they are at.
The benefit at Beekman fields did put a damper on a few coaches I would say.

They did have a winner, but since most (if not all) of the teams in attendance had players from several different teams I don't know that being the winner was very significant. The team I took had 6 players from our 18U team and 3 from each of our two 16U teams. It is just a chance to play and possibly be seen by a college coach. [The number of college coaches in attendance was down considerably this year.]
