Lawrenceville, Ga. – The (RV) LSUA softball team tried to rally back in a pair of games in the Lawrenceville Bracket of the NAIA National Championship Tournament Opening Round, but the Generals saw their season come to an end, falling 8-6 to host Georgia Gwinnett in the winners bracket game before dropping the elimination game 3-0 to Rio Grande Tuesday afternoon at the Grizzly Softball Complex.

Natalie Desmond
Natalie Desmond is the daughter of Yolanda Manzo and Chuck Desmond of Lockport, Ill. Natalie attended Lockport Township High School while playing for Stone City softball organization. She is a lefty slapper and primarily an outfielder. At St. Ambrose University, Natalie will be majoring in Special Education. She is a member of the National Honor Society and received an Illinois State Scholar Award.

McKenna Vrbovsky
McKenna Vrbovsky is the daughter of John and Amanda Vrbovsky of Joliet, Ill. McKenna attended Joliet West High School while playing for the Hawks softball organization. She is a utility player and catcher. At St. Ambrose University, McKenna will be majoring in Finance.

Erica Ralfs
Erica Ralfs is the daughter of Jerry and Theresa Ralfs of Davenport, Iowa. Erica graduated from Davenport West High School and played for the West Falcons travel ball organization. She is a pitcher, outfielder and first baseman. At St. Ambrose University, Erica will be majoring in Biology. In her athletic career she has been named first team all-conference, second team all-conference and honorable mention all-conference in her three years at Davenport West.

Sophia Delgado
Sophia Delgado is the daughter of Rene and Lara Delgado of Aurora, Ill. She graduated from West Aurora High School and plays for the Wheatland Spikes softball organization. She is a right-handed middle infielder. At St. Ambrose University, Sophia will be majoring in Exercise Science. She was a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, received the Illinois Scholar Award, and is a three-time first team all-conference academic team selection. On the field, she has been named first team all-conference. Along with her personal success, Sophia's high school softball team has earned a Regional and Sectional Title.

Emma Gorden
Emma Gorden is the daughter of Kyle and Nicole Gorden of Pekin, Ill. Emma graduated from Peoria Notre Dame and played for the Midwest Sting travel ball organization. She is an outfielder. At St. Ambrose University, Emma will be studying Occupational Therapy. In her athletic career, Emma was named 2018 Big 12 All-Conference Honorable Mention as a junior. As far as academics, Emma was a member of the National Honor Society, was named a 2019 NAIT Charitable Foundation Scholar, received the 2019 Prescott E. Bloom Service Above Self Award and was a four-year high honor roll student.

Grace Schmitz
Grace Schmitz is the daughter of Ryan and Carrie Schmitz of Streator, Ill. Grace attended Streator High School and played for the BNGSA Angels softball organization. She is a right-handed first baseman and outfielder. At St. Ambrose University, Grace will be studying Business Marketing with a specialty in Sales. In her athletic career, Grace has been named best offensive player and a Times newspaper All-Area Team selection. Grace also received first team academic all-conference honors three straight years.

Kaitlyn Sandora
Kaitlyn Sandora is from Joliet, Ill. She attended Plainfield North High School while playing for the White Sox Elite Fastpitch softball organization. Kaitlyn received an Illinois State Scholar award, is a member of the National Honor Society, and made high honor roll all four years.

Kayla Stenger
Kayla Stenger is the daughter of Chris and Regina Stenger of Bloomington, Ill. Kayla attended Bloomington Central Catholic High School while playing for BNGSA Angels softball organization. She is a right-handed catcher. At St. Ambrose University, Kayla will be majoring in nursing. In her athletic career, Kayla has been named first and second team all-conference as well as third team all-state. As for academic success, Kayla was a member of the National Honor Society (NHS).

Isabella Prado
Isabella Prado is the daughter of Archie and Therese Prado of Joliet, Ill. Isabella attended Plainfield Central High School, while playing for Stone City softball organization. She is a right-handed utility player. At St. Ambrose University, Isabella will be studying Exercise Science.

April White
April White is the daughter of Tom White of Galesburg, Ill. April graduated from Galesburg High School. Currently, April is a member of the Black Hawk Community College softball team. She is a right-handed pitcher and outfielder. At St. Ambrose University, April will be a sophomore transfer coming in and will be studying Psychology and Pre-PT.

Breanna McCann
Breanna McCann is a member of the Illinois Valley Community College softball team. She has been the IVCC number 1 pitcher for two years. This year, Breanna leads the team in strikeouts and ERA.

LUFKIN, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers hopes of a championship were stymied May 15 with a narrow 1-0 loss to San Jacinto College in the third round of the Region 14 Softball Tournament at Angelina College.

With the game scoreless going into the seventh inning, San Jacinto's Ashley Tran grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Ariana Saenz for the game's only run.

KC started off strong in the bottom of the seventh inning with a single by Andrea Decareu, but the game ended with a double play and a ground out by the next two batters.

DODGE CITY, Kan. – In one of the program's biggest wins ever, the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball team reached the championship game Tuesday after defeating the No. 1 NAIA team in the nation the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.


The Jaguars scored a lone run in the bottom of the first inning and made it stand up for a 1-0 win over the NAIA defending national champion Drovers in a winner's bracket game in the Dodge City Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round Tournament.
