Went to a meeting about broom ball at the highschool last night with dd (only reason I got to go was because she needed a parent to sign forms) ?;D

This looks like it could be big fun (especially for an aggressively competitive kind of girl ?;)) ?Am told it gets pretty physical at times, supposed to be like hockey without the skates. ?Saw part of a few games on BCSN a while back and it looked like a blast.

Had to chuckle when they warned it was "kinda expensive" ($65 playing fee, hockey helmet, knee and elbow pads and at least 2 "sticks"/brooms) ~ "why the whole thing could cost more than $120!!" ?They have obviously never played travel ball.

My niece plays broom ball, the hardest part about going to watch her play is the behavior of some of the students in stands, other then that its fun......and Cold when you play at the old Ice House.

Went to lots of broom ball games last year -- cheering for the girls from the old neighborhood! Looking forward to seeing you guys there this year. It was great fun and we never saw behavior problems from the kids in the stands.

Update on the broomball situation ---dd went for first practice in local elemetary school gym. ?Came out hot, sweaty and grinnin'. ?:D

They don't have any indoor softball around here, but it looks like this just might do the trick to keep us entertained till h.s. season starts. ?

Take a gander at this Boston University Intramural video---looks like a lot of fun, enjoy! ?;)

Hey Kat, I hope she doesn't get hurt for a little fun. My dd was thinking the same thing, but she realized that is why she gave up basketball. She is spending her time working out (hitting and fielding) two days a week at the high school. She also goes to Synergy two other days a week. I'm not saying her way is the right way, but it takes away the possibility of get hurt while goofing around. This is just MHO. :)

That's a very good point Heat---I'd hate for her to get injured goofing around with some little intramural bit of silliness, but sometimes ya gotta let her have a little fun. ?

We got her the hockey helmet, elbow and knee pads, shin guards, and special gloves (pretty sure she's got enough padding in her booty to protect her there ;)).

What I'm worried about is her playing badminton(sp?) in gym class. ?She wields that racquet like a weapon!!! ?She hurt her hand last year fighting a fella for the birdie (like I said, she's a competitive beast) and I told her if she couldn't play softball because of a badminton injury, I was gonna kick her keister. ?;D

Only get one crack at High school, if she has fun playing it, go for it! Don't want your DD to hold this against you when she is 35 ish lol.
