Dave will be out of country thru 9/30 (that's what I was told) so we will not see any postings from Dave until then, unless he has a generator and a satillite hook-up.

I leave at 3:30... I'm at work doing engineering ... er... the schedule right now. My plan is to have my wife look it over and email it to everyone by tomorrow. Maybe one of the nice moderators will post the main schedule on here when it comes out.

Jeff and I have a week to stratagize our game plans. by stratagize I mean drink molsen and play poker. We might even catch a fish or two while we're at it.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet ... but.... are metal spikes allowed?

Thanks in advance

Last I saw, none of the sanctioning bodies (ASA,NSA,etc.) have approved metal yet, but I might have missed something on their sites.

According to Rule 3 Section 4 of the 2007 NSA Rule book the answer is emphatically ... NO. I've copied that section below so you can read for yourself. Emphasis was theirs, not mine:

Sec. 4 All players, coaches, and participants must wear shoes. Sandals are considered proper shoes for non-players. A shoe shall be made with either canvas or leather uppers or similar materials. The sole may be either smooth or have soft or hard rubber or polyurethane cleats. Metal cleats or any type of shoe that has exposed metal on the sole other than a rivet may not be worn in any division of youth play. Metal cleats may be worn in all divisions of adult FP play. *PENALTY: IF IT IS DISCOVERED DURING THE GAME THAT AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER IS WEARING METAL CLEATS AN OUT WILL BE CALLED AND THE PLAYER WILL BE EJECTED. A DEFENSIVE PLAYER WHO IS WEARING METAL CLEATS WILL BE EJECTED. Any baserunner(s) must return to the last base occupied at the time of the pitch.

Thanks -- DD is looking forward to wearing them and will probably wear them down in Fla. at the Rising Stars tourney. Was hoping that it was allowed to get her use to them in game situations. Might be a bit of a different feel from the circle?

I guess it is still 2007 ::).................I guess we'll all have to wait until the 2008 rules come out :p. Did hear quite a few 'Click Clacks" of the metal on the walkways down at QDSS

I'll forward the metal cleats thing to Lisa Simpson. We were allowd to wear them at the ASA showcase in BG a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty sure the HS are wearing them . I'll post it here when I find out

That's too bad. I hope ASA and NSA don't get stubborn on this and fail to change the rule. If ASA allows it, the others won't have much choice but to follow.
