This post has not seen much action in a while. Since tryouts started this week, what are your bold predictions for Ohio High School softball in 2017 and who will be the teams (list players if you want) to watch?

In Southwest Ohio, I will go with Lakota West, Lebanon, Fairfield and Mason.

Up north, Walsh Jesuit should be strong again. In Central Ohio, Gahanna Lincoln should be able to score runs.

Not to ignore other divisions because I primarily follow D1 where DD plays, but Hebron Lakewood should be a favorite to repeat in D2.

A bold prediction would be that Kenton Ridge plays Lakewood in D2 State Championship.

Good luck.

The Federal League will be strong again with Hoover, Perry, Glenoak and Green all returning strong pitching. Perry will be battle tested with a non league schedule of Hebron Lakewood, Keystone, Parma, Avon, West Branch, Amherst Steele and either Walsh Jesuit or MT. Saint Dominic all with D1 committed pitchers.

Elyria should be tough this year... Hoover is going to give some teams some trouble this year.Louisville isnt going to be a walk in the park either.

Louisville is always good, don't know what Elyria has this year but they have a strong history of titles and elite teams. Perry will play them both.

Walsh Jesuit will be back in the thick of things. We have everyone returning except for two seniors from last year, and a couple of hungry freshmen hope to step into their shoes. If our girls can stay healthy we'll make a run at a repeat.

Bill, Your right the federal will be tough as usual,I wouldn't be surprised if Lake or Jackson steals a couple wins from the other 4.Green will be expanding its schedule to include several state contending Div 2 teams and several invitationals for some more out of conference play.We will have 6 returning starters and a talented group of underclassmen competing for those open positions.Expect aggressive baserunning and power throughout the line up with a solid defense w/great pitching and a base stealers nightmare behind the plate.Looking forward to a fun HS season.

Div lll watch out for Massillon Tuslaw. This team should be loaded for years to come. Every position player plays summer ball for Laser's, Ice, Wolfpack, etc. Will come down to pitching like most teams.

Elyria has several really strong players coming up as freshmen, including Riley Zanna, a Bandits player committed to Ohio State in eighth grade.

A kid committing in 8th grade??? Really? They can't even decide what to wear in eight grade...

Great if a kid did that, but dang way too early as who knows what could happen over four years.....

The champions for 17' hmmm let's see, the last teams standing.... Enjoy the season as it hits, but it goes so fast........take time to watch the girls enjoyment of playing, vs the grind itself.....

I get that keystone is the place that everyone loves to hate but could anyone really argue that they wont be one of the best?

Keystone will be in it at the end, as will Walsh - who sits atop the popularity charts right along with Keystone :) But that's okay, our girls feed off of the hate.

I like this conversation! It's a good distraction from talking politics where people get emotional and take it so personally!
