OMG, Ohio Slammers!

Well I'm not going to say who the player's are that have been added to the Slammers at this point but the talk on my daughter's team is that with the new additions to the Ohio Slammers, Bigtrains team will supposedly dominate any teams on the east coast. Now that sounds like a bit much to me but when I heard who supposedly joined the team I could not believe it and I still don't. I just can't imagine Bigtrain being that lucky to have those girls all on one team together, I just don't think it's possible. Good luck to those girls either way, and I kind of do hope that it's true because I think Ohio deserves the recognition and I think if it is to be done Bigtrain can do it. So if it's true congrats Slammers and were rutting for ya! But don't get to excited there Slammers my daughter's team said they will still give you a run for your money! :D

I know who they are and they are both excellent players. They will have some work to do to catch up with the refined skills that the current players have but it will not take long. They will be happy that they made the switch and if they can handle the work load then they will reap the rewards.

Good luck to both of them.

The rich get richer. Loaded with talent, well coached, goal oriented ... they should do well. Having helped coach two of their new additions over the past few years, I know that they added at least 2 very strong pieces (both offensively & defensively) to an already dominant team. All of the pieces would seem to be in place for a long run at ASA next year, the "Big Show" ... aside from 1B & CF, anyone know if they picked up another strong pitcher to go with what they had?

does'nt appear they did , just the 1b and cf. hopefully this sets them up to kick some serious tale nationally next year.

You seem to know MD, but a Lasers Red poster indicated in another thread that they lost 2 players to Slammers, the CF would be one of those (1B from Sapphires). Sort of hate speculating on this stuff, but it got me wondering if they picked up one of their pitchers also, maybe? Three can be a crowd.

Yeah, just heard also from a friend who would know - all I can say is

Sounds like the Lasers added some excellent talent as well though. A little reshaping, but still very strong. Neither team will get stale, that's for sure.

Hi Beck,

It's 14u. Communicated with friends on both teams today, both sound happy and looking forward to next year, they'll both be VERY strong again (as usual). Wishing the best to each, except when/if we cross paths competitively, .... at least for 60-90 minutes or so :D, then afterwards I'll gladly buy the first round, win or lose! :)

Both are classy teams, with excellent coaching that continually reinvent themselvese with great kids!

It is sounding like to me the Slammers have completely separated themselves from the rest of Ohio. That didn't sound right. I don't mean they are snubbing their noses at Ohio, I mean they are simply at another level from everyone else. I would guess that by 2010 they may be the best team in Ohio at any age level. I haven't asked Bill about this, but I would also guess they might entirely skip 16-U and just start playing Gold in 2010. Certainly that would be the case by 2011.

The trading deadline is over and it has been a rough couple of weeks. The phone has
rang off the hook. My DD went from an average player two years ago to one of the
top in the class in 2008. Thank You Ohio slammers for two great years. Thank
you coaches for all the time and hard work. Thank you parents for all the support.
It was not an easy decision to leave and we feel we made the right one. We are
sad to leave our slammer family and at the same time excited to meet our new Laser
family. So for all you gossip seekers out there. Here is a score for you to chew on for
a while. Lasers win the last one without even playing a game. Lady Lasers 3 ohio slammers 2. Good luck to all and see you on the field.

Wish this thread could be a bit more cryptic. Sounds like the Slammers - per bigtrain's stated intentions - set out to add a few more girls to create a deeper roster, which he feels is required to be more competitive with the high-end ASA teams.

NOW it sounds like at least one Slammer veteran has gone the other way. I wonder what the net count is on the arrivals and departures?

All I know is that as soon as my daughter's birth certificate gets back from China, she will be 14U eligible for one more year.

Then we can forward her resume up north.
