It's like watching paint dry waiting for these last few weeks of school ball to end. Don't get me twisted cause a love softball in general and our school team should go VERY deep in the tournament if not win it BUT nothing beats the summer time crunch. The scorching hot LONG days setting up at the park in tent city grillin, chillin, and waiting on the next game and possibly of hoisting the hardware at the end. Also the joy of uniting complete strangers at on point and watching them become sisters with a bond that lasts a lifetime with also the possibility of placing these young ladies in college to get a great education. Good luck this summer everyone (unless you play us lol Jk) may God bless you and your team to stay healthy, stay safe on all travels , and good sportsmanship on and off the field.

Got lucky. Have the privilege of coaching 22 great kids with the WWAST 14u charity team team this year while the older 14u are playing school ball here in Ohio.

So, with Fall, Spring and next summer teams, I'll have been able to coach in about 24 tournaments and coach over 30 kids in 2015-2016 through July. Also, still watch local High School Ball for my older daughter.

I might have a problem,lol!

Sorry, but NO WAY. I've been there when our school win a state title. You could win 100 travel ball tournaments and it's not 10% of the feeling of winning one for your school and town.

I have to agree with this -There is very little in travel that is equil with a school winning states (maybe nationals?) - There is a so much great about School ball; School and Civic pride, The newspaper coverage your friends coming to the games to see you play, other peoples parents stopping you to tell you how well you did, that is all great stuff that those kids will cherish forever BUT in reality the Travel game and level of compatition is MUCH, MUCH better in general. It's an inverted system, that all the hoopla belongs to the lesser level.
(HS people may now start the drubbing)

No doubt that high school ball can pull a community together when they are making a run at a state title. Never made it past district championship with oldest DD, but even those games were some pretty special memories! However, even though I agree with backstop in principle, no way can you say 100 travel tournament championships aren't 10% of the feeling of a HS championship. I would say going deep at PGF/TCS nationals, the IDT, ASA gold nationals, etc... feels pretty special and pretty intense! It's definitely a DIFFERENT feeling as it lacks the same kind of community support you get from HS ball, but certainly not "10% of the feeling."
