Some adults just need to find a hobby away from this game before they destroy a young lady's chances of a bright future.

The Pro league is struggling to stay afloat and now some -------- bunch wants to pay girls to complete their roster so they can have a higher state of sugarplums dancing in their heads???? Give me a break!!!!

I say just move on to the new team. I would be skeptical if my DD went back as there could be negative issues that would distract the team. I know if another girl had their fee waived or reimbursed, I'd leave that org ASAP and make sure everybody knew about it.

Make sure the payments are in cash. Make sure your daughter never handles the money. Make sure the organization does not record the transaction. Make sure you also have an incentives agreement, such as: X amount of dollars for each win; each strike out; each home run; each tournament victory, ect. Get them to buy your shoes and bat as well. Also, you could ask that they buy your daughter a tournament t-shirt from every event (at $20 each, this is a savings of about $160). They should also cover all of your gas, meals, hotels, etc. Wow. That really adds up when you think about it. Maybe that's why some of these organizations charge a $10 parking fee at the tournaments they host?

Its just like if you have a job but are interviewing for another you never accept your current employers counter offer because then they would just be looking to replace you asap.

What if a talented girl lost her chance to play travel ball strictly because of finances? Wouldn't that be a shame? It is happening all over. In our rec league they offer free registration if you have a hardship. Isnt that the same principle as a scholorship?

In our organization we have a couple of generous corporate sponsors that wish for there funds to help others. We will use those funds to help girls that may not play otherwise. They sponsor a player. If I see one girl play because of these available funds that may not have otherwise it is well worth it!!! Its all about the girls. With a individual sponsor no one has to pay more to get there money's worth.

I heard from another local organization that this is a business to him. Well if thats the case Scholorship/individual sponsors dont help your bottom line.

I would never give a final opinion without knowing all the facts, but if it's just expenses being paid for, that's not against any rules that I'm aware of.

This happens all the time out west. I know of many girls who had their travel ball expenses either wholly or at least partially taken care of by teams. That's different than being paid some sort of a salary or stipend, which would definitely be against NCAA and certainly high school association rules.
