At Berliner today we were warming up to play our 3:30 game on field #2 behind the 1st base dugout. The 1:45 game before us ended about a half hour early, I believe it was a run rule game. The losing team came out to the grass near where we were warming up and instantly we all were majorly distracted ( our players and us coaches ). This female coach began screaming at these girls, belittling them, even got in a couple of their faces ( intimidating them ) and demanded they tell her why they embarrassed her, and then told them they were all to go straight back to the hotel and stay in their rooms till they play Sunday morning! Nearly every girl was in tears ( this is 16u by the way ). It took everything I had not interrupt her and say something! All of our players jaws were on the ground, could not believe what we were hearing. Had I been a parent on that team I would have grabbed my kid and told that coach we will find a new team! There is no place in the game for this type of coaching. I would say she is an embarrassment for her organization but I'm under the impression they are the only team in this organization. Is there a way to get the word out about this coach and not get this thread removed? No player should ever get stuck playing for this lady!

Most likely a non parent coach, I have seen stuff like this over the years usually the coach is a current or former just graduated college player that is still learning how to coach and motivate. One breakdown does not mean the coach will not get it.
Unfortunately; she failed to keep her cool and expressed her frustrations from the lack of talent or lack of coaching in an area where others could see it.

One thing that gets me is 16U crying? Maybe my girls were just tough as nails but you would not catch them crying from a post game talk...Maybe cussing under their breath and having laser beams coming from their eyes but crying over a post game talk nope...

That would of been me! I'll be damned if someone is going to scream at my child like that. I have a 16u'er and as much as they would like to think they're adults they're still kids tryin to have fun.

Any coach can lose their cool. Maybe not to the level of insanity this coach displaced but it can be done. Always, there are 2 sides to every story. I won't defend her for her actions it is quite possible something happened away from the game that helped contribute to the unappreciated review of the game by the coach. It does appear counseling is needed. Perhaps a group rate is in order. lol.

I always tell coaches at clinics that yelling at a player does little to motivate, especially a girl player. The Woody Hayes days are long gone. The drill sergeant mentality is a thing of the past as it has proven over time to do little while training a player or soldier. I learned it at the NFCC courses from the best teachers of the game that players normally shut down and girls become unapproachable as the coach loses respect from the players. I had to laugh at the comment about the lasers darting from their eyes. I tell people once you start yelling at the girl her face goes blank and while you yell at her she's not hearing a word you said. Instead, she's plotting how many ways she can kill you without going to jail and where to hide the body. lol

sure post the team...word is out but no info. on team......

I'm sorry (sftball follower), I disagree 100% no one has to name teams, organizations or individuals when talking about events that happen or are discussed on this forum.

Alot of great discussion are started and discuss on the forum only to be shut down when requested by the OP or the "Teams, Coaches, Parents, Players, Tornaments Director, Organization or Individuals involved".

The days of naming who was involved just for the sake of added negative conversation or adding Flames to the Fire really does nothing to advance the game of Girls Fastpitch Softball or help other, especially if the Individual reads their name in the OP Thread or reply.

Most individuals learn from their mis-takes and others mis-takes, if the Individual(s) reads the OP hopefully they walk away with something of value.

Yes sometime, due to the severity of what happened Names need to be out there. But after 21 years of running this site, I've only seen a average of two New Threads a year that really needs to have the name of the individuals involved in the POST. So in the last 21 years, I believe forty-two post it would have been appropriate to call them out.

I do not agree with this. I have don't have 21 years experience running the site so my credentials are nothing. However we have all built our reputation in the cyber world one post at a time. I believe in the truth. Sometimes its not easy to hear, but in the long run, good things come out of adversity. There are other sources of information IE the local news papers, social media, other forum sites, etc.. where information is readily available. I understand the point of recklessly spreading names as counterproductive and the lack of value in that. However there is a great deal of nonsense out there and this form allows its members to share information good and bad, accurate/inaccurate but its the readers responsibility to verify. Its the internet for goodness sake. Its like getting all your medical advice from Web MD! There is a balance of social responsibility and the point of a forum is to share the good and bad. If everything is rainbows and unicorns how is that benefitting the users?

Again I do not think out right defamation is appropriate. I do think sharing experience is very appropriate. There are two sides to every story and in the internet age its the readers responsibility, as much as the writers, to exercise some form of due diligence.

I am glad to hear, in the last sentence, you do see some value in spreading the word when needed. I guess as the ADMIN in charge you make the decision as to what is "needed" and what is not.
