PENN-OHIO Classic ASA/USA National Qualifier: Western Pa. has teamed up with Ohio ASA to host it's first ever Penn-Ohio Classic in Kennedy Twp on Memorial Day Weekend, with the top placing Pa. team and top placing Ohio Team earning the right to represent their State at the ASA/USA National Championship. Ohio is hosting this event in the 10 & 12 age groups in 2012.

Pennsylvania is hosting the 14U Penn-Ohio Classic near Pittsburgh (Kennedy Twp). This a very nice field complex with excellent concessions. The highest placing Ohio team AND the highest placing PA team will each get a bid to ASA/USA Nationals. I hope to see some of the great Ohio 14U teams come to town for this event.

Ohio is hosting the 10U and 12U Penn-Ohio Classic, I believe near Canton (maybe someone from Ohio can clarify). I hope some of the PA teams head over.

This is the first year for this concept, but if it goes well, they may expand to include 16U and 18U in the future. Hope to see teams supporting this!

May 19th - 20th or May 26 -27. It will be an USA/ASA Qualifier; this year Ohio has the 10U & 12U age group. It will be a 2 game pool play and a double elimination tournament, entry fee is $425.00. With the top finisher from Ohio getting a berth and the top team from Pennsylvania earning a berth. So for example if Ohio teams finish 1 thru 4 and Pennsylvania comes in 5th. Ohio will get one spot and Pennsylvania will get one spot. There will be a tournament this year in Penn also for the 14U age group. It will be May 26th & 27th. Pennsylvania will be coming shortly with details on their tournament. We will bid this tournament at our December 18th meeting so please pass this along to all of your bidding cities.

I think this is a great idea. It gives the best teams (presuming strong teams will enter since its an ASA/USA event) from both States a chance to play each other yet they both can earn berths.
