Gotta agree with Ringor on this. Unless we're talking injury, the notion of "you're not allowed to throw until I tell you" sounds a little nutty to me. Sounds like someone is going on a bit of a power trip! Like everything else talked about on this board, the qualities necessary to be a good pitching coach are subjective. So hey, if you think this sort of behavior is important , more power to you. Myself, given the limited "facts" we have in this post, I'd have to say I'll pass.
My DDs pitching coach ALWAYS recommends rest. We usually take 1-2 months off after try-outs, and DDs pitching always takes a leap forward after the break. Her pitching coach never says "go back" to the basics, she never leaves them to begin with. As with any skill, you can never do too much work on the foundation! JMHO
