Pool Play question?

I have a 7 team tourney, I am asking for yur opnion here on how to do pool play? It is going to be 3 pool games into single elim.. The pool games will not work out evenly as I will have to have one team short one game with everyone else ahveing played theirs.. ( If I worked it out correctly) I was thinking of having the hostv team play the extra game*** It will not count for their record or runs for or against, it is just to have all the teams get three games!!! Seems right to me... is this proper. I have run several tounements and have played in several and never was it 7 teams, so Im wondering here???

You will have to give 3 teams an extra game. ?I am sure you will not have a problems getting volunteers. If more than 3 want the extra games, put numbers in a hat and draw for the games. ?After that, a possible setup would be...

Pool 1
Team 1
Team 2
Team 3

Pool2
Team 4 (host team)
Team 5 (xtra game)
Team 6 (xtra game)
Team 7(xtra game)

Pool 1s schedule
1 vs 2
1 vs 7
2 vs 3
3 vs 1
2 vs 6
3 vs 5


Pool 2s schedules
4 vs 5
4 vs 6
4 vs 7
5 vs 6
5 vs 7
7 vs 6

Only the games in color would count for the two different pools. The crossover games do not count against the teams in pool 2 but does count for pool 1.

Just a suggestions. ?Other may have better ideas.

Thanks Johnies, ?I had it set up as a pool of 3 and a pool of 4, with three teams playing a cross pool game and it worked out that one team is left with only two games and need to get in one more.. ?I dont think it sounds improper for one team to play the extra game and it only count for one team???? I was just thinking it be the host team cause they dont have to travel back home,I could ask and then draw for the extra one.. ?

Crush1, we've played in tournaments just as you discribed and gladly accepted the extra game. It didn't count for us, just the other team.
