Question about pool play

Just wondering how tournaments pick pools. Is it a "blind draw"? Do all tournaments (ASA, NSA, USSSA) etc. do it the same way? Thanks!!!

We do a blind draw.

We try to keep teams in pools with teams that are not in their home geographic area.

Is there ever any attempt to keep an 11u or young team with other 11u or young 12u teams? It seems like my DD's 11u ALWAYS has to play the hardest teams (second year 12's). And is seems like our older 12u team had a nice healthy mix. Boy did the 11's take a beating this year.

Some just get lucky...nothing like odd year draws.... We will feel your pain next year. Again.
