Posting list of teams

As I go through the tourney section of OFC this year looking to finalize our 2013 schedule, I am surprised with the number of postings where the TD's haven't yet posted a list of teams. Many teams these days are not going to sign up for a tourney until they see who else is entered and/or whether there are even going to be enough teams to make a go of it. And parents want to know further in advance than they used to what the schedule is going to be for their daughter's teams. While I assume some may not be listing because they don't have very many teams yet and they think it may backfire, I really think it's a chicken or the egg kind of thing. If teams aren't going to sign up until they at least see the start of a list, then you're not going to have a list to start. Even if you at least list the teams who said they are interested or who have inquired, that's something. Once that list is posted, my theory is that you have a much better chance of filling it in. Just my two cents ...

It seems like in the past TD's dont post because they don't have any to post or very little to post. JMHO

Warren ... that's my assumption ... but other than the tourneys like Stingrays, GAPSS and ASA States where I am going to apply right away because I know other quality teams are going to as well, I personally am going to be much quicker to sign up for other tourneys if the least is at least started, vs. nothing showing up at all. I know some TD's in the past have been accused of posting and updating too often, but my observation is that they were the first to fill their tourneys up. For example, I think you do a good job of posting, updating and filling up yours.

USSSA of PA will list the teams as they sign up. They have been doing this for a few years and it has been well received by coaches. (both team and college)

The ISST has thrived with this openness with teams signing up earlier and earlier. However, we see just a few teams currentlty registered. Typically most team will sign up after the New Year. The USSA web page has an archive button that lets you see who actually came over the last few years so you can see the level of competition that has historically been in attendance. Other affiliations my be offering similar information but I have not seen it. USSSA of PA is doing a great job of letting the coaches know who is coming and what to expect at any of their tournaments.

I have found networking with top teams will get your answers privately vs on the forum...most are obliged in that setting..
