KNOXVILLE — Dobyns-Bennett had two winners at the Volunteer Track Classic and Science Hill finished with a runner-up and pair of third-place finishes in the event that concluded Saturday. Sophomore Sasha Neglia ran a 5:03.41 to capture the 1,600-meter girls race to lead the Lady Indians, whose 3,200 relay team of Ashtyn Hagood, Meg Davis, Gracie Allen and Morgan Cordell finished in 9:49.75 to beat runner-up Science Hill by almost 11 seconds. The Hilltoppers’ T.J. Patton finished third in both the boys’ 110 hurdles (15.24 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (40.54). Dobyns-Bennett’s Natalie Donahue was second in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9 foot, 6 inches. Julia Parr of Science Hill was fourth at 9-0. D-B’s Jeamy Williams finished second in the 200 (22.11) and the 400 (51.09). The Indians also scored with a third-place finish for the girls’ 1,600 relay (4:05.09), less than a second ahead of fifth-place Science Hill (4:05.81). Emma Russum ran 11:29 and placed fifth in the 2-mile race. BASEBALL SULLIVAN EAST 10, SOUTH-DOYLE 9 BLUFF CITY — Seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Patriots to an improbable comeback in the Tribe Classic. Two-run doubles from Perry Casaday and Drew Hatcher combined with Hudson Standbridge’s RBI two-bagger pulled East within a run in the seventh. Two hit batters, an Everett Hunt single and Eli Milhorn’s bases-loaded walk completed the rally. The final five Sullivan East runs came with two outs. Casaday, who scored twice, and Standbridge each went 2-for-3. Hatcher picked up the win on the mound with 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run. DANIEL BOONE 9, MORRISTOWN EAST 5 GRAY — Zach Taylor went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to fuel the Trailblazers’ Tribe Classic victory over Morristown East. Hunter Adams added a 2-for-3 effort that included two RBIs and Eric Rigsby had a two-run single — which represented the go-ahead score for Daniel Boone — in the fifth inning. Cade Elliott scored two runs and Nolan Miller picked up the win, giving up just three hits and four runs in 4 1/3 innings. Miller pitched well until running into trouble in the fifth. MORRISTOWN WEST 7, DAVID CROCKETT 6, 8 INNINGS JONESBOROUGH — The Trojans rallied with two runs in the top of the sixth and then scored the go-ahead run in the extra inning to down the Pioneers at the Tribe Classic. Grady Cash went 2-for-4 to lead Crockett. James Broyles, Will Long, Tanner Treadway and Sean Hayes all drove in runs. Cade Larkins threw 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision before turning the game over to Sean Hayes. UNICOI COUNTY 13, CHEROKEE 5 ERWIN — Owen Nicholson and Keaton Casey each batted 3-for-3 in the Blue Devils’ victory over Cherokee. Caleb Crain contributed a pair of hits in three at-bats for Unicoi. Ramon Avila proved victorious from the mound. The Chiefs were headed by JaPheth Curtsinger at 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Steve Owen was 2-for-3, scoring twice. SULLIVAN NORTH 3, NORTHVIEW ACADEMY 2 KODAK — Braydon Wilhoit tossed a complete-game win, holding Northview to five hits and walking none. The Golden Raiders’ Peyton Robinson supplied a two-run double in the top of the sixth. SOFTBALL WISE CENTRAL 10, LETCHER CENTRAL 0 PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Brook Porter had a pair of doubles and four RBIs and Haley Mullins struck out nine batters in a three-hit shutout for Wise Central. Keely Bathis and Mullins each had two hits, and Brittany Mullins scored two runs. WISE CENTRAL 7, PIKEVILLE 3 PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Olivia Mullins and Gracie Mullins each went 2-for-3 and Callie Mullins drove in two runs in the Lady Warriors’ win. Olivia Basham had a double and an RBI. Haley Mullins gave up two earned runs in the win. DAVID CROCKETT 12, HAPPY VALLEY 4, 3 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — The Lady Pioneers scored an early knockout, putting up 11 runs in the top of the first inning of their Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic game. Nine Crockett hits were divided between eight players, with Kara Weems going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Mackenzie Baldwin went 1-for-1, also producing three runs, two RBIs and a pair of walks. Sydney Fox coupled two runs with two RBIs and Maddie Roy stroked an RBI double. Reagan Miller’s two-bagger knocked in a run and Maddie McKee pitched the win. Kadie Havner socked an RBI double in a 2-for-2 effort for the Lady Warriors. DAVID CROCKETT 11, SULLIVAN SOUTH 4, 5 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Lenzie Jenkins homered, doubled, scored twice and totaled four RBIs in a 2-for-4 performance for Crockett, which avenged a loss to Sullivan South in Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic action. Maddie McKee went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs for the Lady Pioneers. Riley Hope was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Sydney Fox went 2-for-4. Crockett pitcher Kara Weems struck out six batters and drove in two runs. Laura Dade and Maddie Townsend each collected two hits for the Lady Rebels. DAVID CROCKETT 3, SULLIVAN EAST 1, 6 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Kara Weems had one of her top outings of the season, keeping the Lady Patriots off the scoreboard till the bottom of the sixth in the Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic game. Weems surrendered six hits and posted four strikeouts against one walk. Sydney Fox doubled and drove home two runs in a 3-for-4 effort. Riley Hope and Lenzie Jenkins also doubled for the Lady Pioneers. Sullivan East got a double from Chelsea Sams. ELIZABETHTON 10, SULLIVAN CENTRAL 5, 4 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — The Lady Cyclones opened the Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic game’s scoring by erupting for 10 second-inning runs and coasted from there. Hannah Edwards was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs for Elizabethton. Lauren Brickey yielding two runs on four hits with six strikeouts in her 3 2/3 innings on the mound. Central’s Alexa Chandler and Maddie Flannagan both batted 2-for-3, with Chandler adding two RBIs. Flannagan scored twice. UNAKA 7, SULLIVAN EAST 4, 5 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Erika Potter ripped a three-run homer in the first inning to launch the Lady Rangers to the Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic win. Madison Pierce and Katlyn Weaver each batted 2-for-3 to back winner Corie Schuettler. The Lady Patriots’ Jana White accounted for two hits and two runs in three at-bats. Chelsea Sams slammed a two-run homer and drew a pair of walks. MORRISTOWN EAST 5, SULLIVAN EAST 0, 5 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Autumn Gobble had the lone Sullivan East hit against the Lady Hurricanes in their Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic game. Up 1-0, Morristown East pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fifth. SULLIVAN EAST 11, SULLIVAN CENTRAL 2, 4 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Samantha Smith led a 10-hit Lady Patriots output by going 3-for-3, adding two RBIs in the Wayne Hodge State Farm Classic victory. Kylee Wolfe finished 2-for-2 with two runs and a double, and Amber Turner and Chelsea Sams each totaled three RBIs. Turner had a double and Katelyn Loudy went 1-for-1, scored three times and drew two walks. Jillian Shackleford pitched her way to victory. Maddie Flannagan had a 2-for-3 game and Katie Horne socked a two-run double for Sullivan Central SULLIVAN CENTRAL 14 NORTH GREENE 8, 5 INNINGS ELIZABETHTON — Behind 3-for-4 production from Faith Campbell, Madison Horne and Sydney Snapp, the Lady Cougars racked up 17 hits. Campbell accounted for two doubles, two runs and three RBIs. Horne and Snapp each registered a two-bagger. Maddie Flannagan scored twice and she, Ashley Steadman and Alexa Chandler each had a pair of hits to the victory. Snapp surrendered one earned run and one hit over three innings. Megan Whaley went 2-for-3 for the Lady Huskies. HALLS 11, DANIEL BOONE 6 CORRYTON — Daniel Boone surrendered six unearned runs in the first inning and four more in the third. The Lady Trailblazers struck for six hits with Megan Ackerman going 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Greyson Stevens added a two-run single. Nickolette Ferguson took the loss for Boone, giving up just one earned run. JEFFERSON COUNTY 4, DANIEL BOONE 2 CORRYTON — The game was tied at 1 before Jefferson County struck for three fourth-inning runs. Ashley Starnes had a double for the Lady Trailblazers, who were limited to three hits. Megan Ackerman absorbed the loss after scattering six hits.
