This didn't include the girls in the cages, did it?
Hard to really choose any kind of team as girls had only three or four at bats all weekend, and possibly did not have a ball hit to them.

Well these twelve made the most of every opportunity that was presented to them whether it was 5-6 at bats, or a couple ground balls in the field, and were very deserving!! And another thing, it wasn't all on athleticism, it was also what they did off the field and how they presented themselves on the field. Again Congratulations!!

Great Point Lady Knights. All of the girls had the same opportunity, these 13 girls seized the moment. Luck is where hard work meets opportunity. Congratulations girls, great job!

Congrats to Sam Santillo (c), not only a great "big mouth" leader on the field, but awesome young lady. She helped me and Steve this winter with an 8 wk catching clinic with a group of younger girls. They all now look up to her, even if some of them were taller then her.
Also to McKenna Galloway (p), it is going to be a fun summer !

Lady, you were awfully touchy there. All these girls did a fine job. Certainly congratulations go out to these girls. The focal point was the showcase aspect, which was outstanding. It looks like it worked for your daughter, congrats. My points were still valid as the cage girls were not considered for the All-Tournament Team, they just picked a cage MVP. Secondly, I made the statement that it would be difficult to pick the team on such avery small sampling. As it was they picked it from only the game MVPs. That allowed them to chose from a smaller pool of possibilities and make it more manageable. For example, one girl hit the only home run out of the netting all week plus she hit a rocket which was speared by 2nd baseman. Unfortunately the pitcher on her team had a great game and was named MVP. In another game, where not much happened, one girl got a single and was named MVP. She was then up for the All-Tourney Team. wahoo17 stated that these girls were selected the best at their postion out of 298 at QDSN. Probably better stated as the best MVPs out of the 260 some girls who played on the field. STILL a great honor!

Agreed about Emily Jordan, her shot was a bomb. How many people can say they've witnessed a ball being hit up and over the netting? There were many deserving young ladies, congats to those that were selected.

Was Emily Jordan the lefty with the Stingrays gear on? If so, I had a great look of that bomb, I can only imagine how far that would have cleared a normal fence. She hit another shot later in the same game (a bullet to 2B I believe). I would take her on my team 7 days a week, twice on Sundays.

The pitcher from Team Long Island was very deserving also, she pitched well, and blistered the ball also.

It is a good point that some kids get nosed out for an MVP, and they quite possibly could have been the best kid there. Just the way it is, and easy to get chafed about it.

My kid had a hit and walk, stole 3 bases, scored 3 runs, and had an assist from RF in one game ..... NOTHING!  .... the pitcher that game threw well, and hit a bomb to CF (more memorable, I guess), no complaints, she deserved it.

I got what I wanted though, great exposure ... saw numerous coaches writing when "she" did something well, numerous times. And she had fun. Mission accomplished. Not interested in debating whether she is/was better than the MVP's of a few games. She is MY MVP, and looked like she was for a few college coaches also :yahoo:

All good. Great events. Congrats to the All-World Team!!

Nicole Sleith is a beast, and so is CBurns, EFish, and LSwipas. Much love to all! You were all outstanding, among others!

I can't speak to the standards of the other All Tournament Team members, but Samantha Santillo played for me at the Showcase. Offensively she was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a walk and 3 RBI's. She was also 1-2 in the cage. Defensively she was great at blocking bad pitches, positioned well on the corners of the plate and framed well, showed an accurate throw with a quick release on throw downs and pick offs. She was a vocal leader as the catcher and hustled on and off the field. I'm pretty sure she was very deserving of the recognition that she received. I don't think she was selected because she "lucked" into a Game MVP when not much was going on (she actually had two of them).

After comments in some of the earlier posts I just wanted to make sure that it was clear that Sam was very deserving of the recognition that she received.

Anyone know if all of these deemed best at their position are all Cup athletes too?

Jamie W. is not a "cup" player, nor were any of the other outstanding/ game/cage MVP ladies from NW Ohio that were identified on an earlier post...they got their honors "the old-fashioned way...they earned it". (any advertising people out there that remember that ad, lol)

Great Job to all the girls. My DD is in eight grade and I hope she and our entire team gets the same oppurtunity as these girls did. AS a parent/coach to the younger players, I ask a lot of questons and really find out as much as I can to give the team an oppurtunity. I wish (or is there) any sort of clinic out there to disuss the steps to take to get the girls an opurtunity? I feel I have learned a lot so far, but so much more to learn and an oppurtunity missed, is an oppuurtunity missed for a player. One of my many goals for our team was NOT to go out trophy hunting, but to get them exposed to coaches; build a resume for the team for the furture (16u). Any thoughts, suggestions out there?

Did I say oppurtunity??? or should I have said "practice" a million times!!
