Wow! Really? Guess I had better check because she definately has the signed certificate here with her name on it to prove it. I would imagine there are over 30 Sycamore parents that could verify that she was named Second Team as they were at the sports awards when she received it with Sara Hahn.

Don't really know what gives? Maybe someone can tell ME!

I emailed the GMC and they said that only one freshman was named to the GMC and she was named First team.

If Lauren Lynn didn't make second team all GMC, then I question the validity of system used to choose.

I saw her crush one over the left field fence in the first round of the tourn.

Lauren was forced to pitch even though she's not a pitcher.

She is an excellent shortstop with great range and a strong arm.

Certainly an impressive set of numbers, and if they are accurate then good for her. Yet voting isn't about the stats its about helping your team win and Sycamore unfortunately didn't have a very good team this year. Coaches vote on what impact a player made against them. I'm sure that if Sycamore's coach could vote for your daughter she would have selected her first team on her ballot, but coaches can't vote for their own players. Hitting a home run against Colerain may make her season special, but clubbing one against the top 4 contending teams in the GMC and knocking them out of contention for the league title would leave more of an impression on those coaches come voting time.

I commend your daughter for being a team player and playing out of position to help the team, but remember if she performs poorly pitching, it won't help her garner votes come voting time. Coaches are more likely to vote for the successes they see, and vote against the poor performances they remember.

The good news is she is a freshman and will only get better, with plenty more opportunities.

The stats came off of the GMC website! ?Oh, by the way, she's not my daughter. ?

Two other players from Sycamore were voted in and they played on the same bad team. ?The two players selected are deserving but in the 4 games I saw Sycamore play, she WAS the impact player on the team. ?

It is very hard and very rare for a freshman to make first team in this conference. ?From her stats, I can see why. This girl played on one of the Heat teams last year. She has a cannon for an arm and is very fast.

bhoh -- fyi; last year, Rachel Shepard (Catcher) from Lakota West made GMC first team as a freshman....may have been a long time prior to that but just happened last year. ?By the way, she was selected first team again this year as a sophomore.

Obviously, there was a mistake made here. ?My daughter DID receive a certificate at Sycamore's sports awards and it DOES say GMC All-Conference Second Team and it is signed and has HER name on it. ? It is neither of our faults if it was given to her erroniously. ? No, my daughter and I aren't LIARS!

However, it is FACT she was 11th in the GMC in batting average, had the most triples in the GMC, and was tied for the most stolen bases in the GMC. ?She plays three sports for the high school, plus travel ball and manages to maintain a 3.85 GPA in all honors classes-with no study hall because she chooses to be in choir. ?She is a very talented singer also.

This evening she was 1 of the 20 girls chosen to be on the All-Ohio Underclass Tournament Team representing Southwest Ohio. ?There were so many talented players there-we saw many of our softball friends and even made a few new ones.

Thus, the point is, my daughter is a GREAT, well-rounded, intelligent, and beautiful young lady-that is all that really matters to me.

daryl-my daughter has never had a professional pitching lesson-not one dime spent on it-BECAUSE she is NOT a pitcher! ?She is a SHORTSTOP. ?They asked her to pitch and she did so in order to help her team-she never complained. ? I am sure that you would agree that it would have been very difficult for her to compete, with Juniors who have had professional pitching lessons since they were 8 or 10 years old, no matter HOW hard she tried. ?My daughter gives it her all on the field... ALWAYS.

Yeah for Rachel! ?She is a quality player and a very nice young lady!

I also noticed that there were 16 girls chosen for first team all GMC and only 15 listed for second team. Maybe Miss Lynn was inadvertantly left off the list.

Why the dig on Maggie?

How you feel about her has nothing to do with being all GMC or not.

Most of us could care less what you think or feel about her or any one else for that matter!

You're right, Bob. Why the dig on Maggie curve 1?

I never thought of her as being a psycho mom. Just a mom looking out for and trying to do what is best for her very talented daughter. Maybe you should walk a mile in her shoes. Maggie is Lauren's biggest fan and I personally don't see anything wrong with that.

Remember what our mom's always told us...if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!!

curve 1-It is difficult to take you seriously when you can't even spell your insults correctly! I will only say that it sounds like sour grapes to me-jealous? ?Or are you still mad she quit the Cruisers. ?Get over it! ?We all know who the only REAL Psycho is. All I was trying to state was that we did not post anything to purposely mislead anyone-she did receive the award. ? I also just wanted to make it clear that I was proud of her when she received the award and I am STILL proud of her even if the award isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

I don't really need a piece of paper to tell me what a ?wonderful daughter I have-that was all I was trying to get at with my previous post. ?
