If the NCAA has rules about not contacting upcoming Juniors until after July 1, how can the kid Sullinger sit down and meet with Thad Matta and commit before he is even out of his Sophomore year? Is it different for each sport?

If I understand all the rules correctly...

Prospective student-athletes can go to the college and meet with the coach on an unofficial visit - go to clinics at the college put on by the coach, etc, but it has to be on their turf.

Coaches are not allowed to officially contact the player or have an official visit or off-campus contact.

Also if student athlete is a junior or less than they aren't actually "signing" they have a verbal agreement....which is honor bound but can be broken by either side, they can't sign till Nov of their senior year.....
