Situation:
2 outs, runner on second, 2 strikes on the batter, batter swings and misses at ball in dirt for strike three, catcher not thinking picks up ball fires to third and throws runner out at third?
Is this a strike out still for the pitcher? Or did she have to be put out? Also, who leads off the next inning since the batter wasn't technically never put out?
Thoughts?
In our situation the umpire said the girl should lead off the next inning because she was never officially put out. Also, does the pitcher get credit with a strike out?
I found this on the NSAWPA site and wasn't 100% sure how to score it. I figured yunz guys over in Ohio could get it right for us. I'm trying to find a rule to cover who is up the next inning. Here is what I thought.
Pitcher gets the K. Ball in the dirt probably kwp. Third out is 2-5 caught stealing. I couldn't find a rule that covered who is up next inning. In my unprofessional opinion The batter who struck out would not be up again next inning.
Thanks for the help
