Should my coach pick up more players?

Okay I used to play on an ohio team (Cincy Doom) although very fun and competitive it was too long of a drive for 2 or 3 practices a week and then the tournys.I was in ohio more than I was in Kentucky.Man can I tell u it is a whole diffrent ball game than the teams in kentucky. We (Kentucky)are so behind in fastpitch it is not even funny. But thats not what I am here to talk about.
This week one of our girls took a bad hop to the face took out one of her teeth and broke her jawl. So we knew she couldnt play for a while so we picked up a player for the couple tournys she couldnt play. Then we have another girl who takes a class at nku so she can get all of her high school credits in. That means she cannot be at the tournys for early games. Also one girl is gone at church camp and another is a governor scholar which means they can not play right now. So our first game at slugger fest
we only had nine players. Enough to play right. Then i got stung by a bee. Well i am highly allergic to bees. My mom gave me my epi pen and ran me to the hospital. So needles 2 say they only had 8 and had to play with 8.I felt really bad.

But my point is shouldnt we have more players with our coach knowing that 3 of the girls would be out for most of the games during the season?

probably, but other then putting out there for everyone to see, hopefully you have discussed this with your coach.

We have 10 girls and have considering picking up one more but really hate to have a player sitting there just in case we need her. Now for the games I know ahead of time we will be missing a player, I have an extra uniform with a number but no name and a younger sister of a player fills in if she is available.
However, these girls are very dedicated and understand that this is a serious commitment and every other teammate is counting on them.
They only miss games for mandatory High School Camps or functions that if they do not attend, will affect their status on the High School Team.

if you add more players then who sits when everyone is there, i have 2 teams both have 14 girls on them, getting everyone playing time is hard when they are all there, not all players are of equal skill level, but each one of their parents believes they are, it makes it very hard to satisfy everyone, the best route in my opinion is to find subs to fill in when needed, as long as they know they are subs.
