I'm not saying not to follow the recommendations at all, I'm saying there is no way to take everything so literal. Like "large gathering" for example, some would argue that theres no way to hold larger tournaments due to large gatherings, but we are not all inside and sitting shoulder to shoulder in an arena. We know how packed berliner can be but there is still plently of room to bring a chair and distance yourself.

And... if the kids can play its going to be impossible to stay 6 feet apart at all times but you have those people who will freak out about that. It's ok.. they are outside, take hand sanatizer and PLAY BALL

Not that I'm overly worried about this, but this statement from deWine is at the end of the article from Cleveland.com. It is all still so odd and there is no consistency. I feel this will affect folks that have actual gone back to the office. (or never left it)

The governor also demurred on a question about travel restrictions currently in place. Most people returning from out-of-state visits right now are asked to quarantine for 14 days to blunt the spread of the virus.
DeWine said he hadn’t made a decision on when he might rescind those restrictions.

Involved in numerous tournaments in Ohio, if anyone thinks a TD is going to go outside guidelines they are crazy and we will see what happens, hopefully today, but not holding my breath. I know my phone and e-mail is blowing up with teams wanting to play and I cannot tell them anything.
I don't like to get into politics, by why does he say recommendations are coming UNTIL they are ready and release at the same time?

That’s the problem bob. No one will stick together and stand up for something. Dewine is damn idiot. If one tournament got played the rest would start playing. Stand up for yourself or they will push you around like a school kid. No one could prove where anything was contracted if that what your afraid of!

I think now they are realizing they have blown this way out of portion and can’t turn back because of the backlash so they are coming up with silly “recommendations” “guidelines” instead of just going back to business as usual. After all this we are seeing this virus is no worse than our common flu just spreads quicker maybe? Idk. I am over it all. Business as usual for me and my family. Other than a mask to help protect others.

I just wish they would hurry up and release their “protocols” or whatever so we can move on from this and start talking some softball!

Not trying to get into a pissing match with anyone, but this is the statement on the Ohio Coronavirus website:

"Beginning Tuesday, May 26, sports leagues in Ohio will be permitted to operate if these leagues can meet REQUIRED safety protocols. This applies only to non-contact and limited-contact sports. "

That doesn't sound like "recommendations" to me. It sounds like some things will be required.

If anyone happened to look at the MANDATORY guidelines for campgrounds, yes you can go camping, but you pretty much can't congregate anywhere on the grounds. Here are some of the mandatory guidelines:

• In accordance with current orders, close any nonessential buildings, amenities, and areas where people could potentially congregate, such as pavilions, pools and splash pads, recreation centers, gyms, playgrounds, jump pads/pillows, go-karts, pedal-karts, game rooms, basketball, volleyball, gaga ball, etc. These activities may resume, or restrictions may be eased, when current orders prohibiting such activities are eased or lifted.

I'm afraid the softball guidelines may be a little more stringent than people think. At least right away. I HOPE I am wrong.

And then after we get the OHio guidelines, each individual city and local park district will have to approve and /or determine what their responsibilities are and if they want the risk.

Also, some places have already furloughed staff and many routine maintenance items are behind schedule. So that is a secondary issue.

we rent the park in Beavercreek and will be entirely at their mercy.

Still standing by for now.

Right over here!
This is very simple. Get out of Ohio and go south. There are so may restrictions that might seem reasonable, but wait till you get some stupid parent who wants to argue a mask issue, distance guideline, or heavens to Mergatroid offense and defense use the same ball.. Oh my. The governor is guessing at best and right now its err on the side of ridiculous. There is no science that says softballs carry the virus, its outside and social distance will be fairly easy.. Here is a hot tip for staying safe this season. 1. Don't lick the used softball either during or after play. 2. Don't sit on Grandmas lap the whole game. 3. Try and not share the same water bottle with the whole team.

I am sure with some simple safety and smart measures we can all survive softball season. Coaches wearing masks? Only three in the dugout? Cant use the same ball on defense? Cant exchange line up cards? And this notion of 50% capacity at the park? The fields don't have a weight limit or capacity. Every field I have every been to, barring a championship or pro event, has had plenty of room to be 6 ft apart. It's arbitrary. Give me a break folks.

People are flying in packed tubes of recycled air as we reopen. I will take my chances on the dirt. We just need some common sense.... but that's not so common..

If you are this worried about the virus.. stay home and have someone stream the game.
