The Spano Dome will host a series of Kobata-style lessons in January.
Proper throwing and catching mechanics, fielding footwork, angles to the ball, pivots, bunt defense and off-foot throws will be among the topics covered in this series of classes.
Students will be taught methods to maximize their power and quickness and participate in drillls to facilitate learning those techniques.
I have been a student of Howard Kobata's fielding style for a decade and am proud to call Howard my mentor and friend. I have coached or instructed numerous Ohio and Pennsyvania teams, including several with top-10 ASA finishes. 18u-Gold-level players who are advanced students of mine will assist with the classes.
Classes will be held at:
7-9 p.m. Jan. 3.
7-9 p.m. Jan. 10.
7-9 p.m. Jan. 17.
7-9 p.m. Jan. 24.
Cost is $15 per two-hour session with advance registration; $20 at the door.
