That is definitely a stab.....
The SLL may be a tough one to predict....
Elmwood always have to be considered, year in and year out they perform even without super stars... With Dauterman and Morgart there this year, they would have to be favored. Coach Hoiles has to be considered one of the best in NW Ohio and their community support program is one of the best in NW Ohio. Congratulations to everyone involved with softball from that area.

Otsego is always a force... Coach Milligan has another season under her belt and they seem to be the spoiler for whatever team is at the top of the league. With a top catcher and pitcher and a crazy speedy 1st baseman (or wherever they put her), it will be enough to put them battling for the top spot or at least be a spoiler again.

I am not too familar with Gibsonburg for this year... I do hear that this is the last year for the varsity coach so it may be a factor in their season.

Eastwood could be interesting... new head coach with lots of past experience.. great asst. varsity coach who relate extremely well with the players...some great young talent. Not sure ifr they have enough dominate players to win it all, but they should be competitive.

Genoa will be be very good again.. Coach K will always get his players prepared will be compete for the top spot. Losing Szypka, Talmage and Kontac is huge, but they will be in the thick of the battle.

ok...I'll take a stab with my LIMITED knowledge. Let's see...mine are in no particular order, just some facts or rumors :-/ that I have heard from around the league

Elmwood - (P)Dauterman'08, Mogart'08 (WOW she is fast), Coach Hoiles seems to have the formula to teach any girls out there to hit the ball no matter where is crosses the plate!

Otsego - (P)Hatfield'08, and another pitcher whose name escapes me. Both did a bang up job in the circle. Fielding last year seemed to be solid. Hitting also very solid.

Eastwood - NEW COACH - Circle looks to be up for grabs(have heard about couple ?of pitchers over there, but none that seem to have much varsity experience), fielding wise infield should be good, Bockbrader'09, Dewyre'10 & Albright'09 all have good bats.

Genoa - (P)Susor'08 (been Szipka's back up) now you tell me about a FROSH on anyother thread, so who knows with Coach Kontac, he always seems to come up with something in every sport he coaches :)...he will however have to find some hitters, he lost his #2, #3, & #4 in the line up

Lake - (P)Ackenburger'08 returning 3yr starter,(MF)Lind'09(sp?)good fielder...ok that's all I know about them

Woodmore - NEW COACH- (P)Michaelis'09 proven solid in the circle, lots of returning letterman, still a fairly young team, not very many SRs (2?)-this team could be the upthis year, sorry to see you omitted them from the list

Gibsonburg - fielder Hill'08 has a nice bat and is a solid fielder, not sure what they hold in the pitching barn, Gibsonburg usually has one that is very nice though, I am sure there is more, but not quite the Wonderly days of 'ol.

Lakota - ????? I know nothing about what they have!

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Ok, now since you added Woodmore, Lakota and Lake, let me stab at them.
All three have new coaches. I don't know the ones from Woodmore and Lake but Lakota's new coach (Bickford) has been around softball forever (yes, he is ancient).

Lake's pitcher should be able to hold her own... not much info about the rest of the team.. I do know the freshmen class that may get a lot of playing time which will help them over the next few years. I am calling this their re-building year.

Woodmore's Michaelis is a gem of a pitcher. I am not sure if they have enough after her to compete for the top spot.

Lakota is also an unknown but I am thinking another team that will be re-building. They seem to always have decent talent at the Jr. High level, it's time that they convert this over to the high school level. I have high expectations from Coach Bickford over the next couple of years.

Same family.... Bickford has done a nice job developing the players at the junior high level... While it may be another year or two for them to be knocing at the door of the elite teams in the SLL.

Uber,

I was away from my computer layin on a beach for a few days. :)

From what I've read, Uncle Bubba, Fast & Bumble are right on with their team summaries. I'll refrain from making any public predictions but I can see 7 of the 8 teams being very competitive this year.

Bubba,

Gibsonburg - Lindsay Hill is a gamer. ?The names Gruner, Brown and Haubert come to mind also, but I couldn't tell you if any of them graduated. ?Maybe someone else can confirm.

Gibsonburg has great tradition and will be very competitive in the SLL as they always are.

At Gibsonburg....Gruner graduated, and MAYBE Haubert but I dont remember. Fisher is still there but injured for the season as I was told. Severe shoulder injury.

Alaina Haubert is a junior. Played cf last year and will play a little 3b and pitch this year. Plays the game 100 mph. Good glove, great bat with some power.

hitrunscore, You are dead on in describing Alaine. She is a fantastic kid and plays hard all the time. I am waiting for the ball to explode one of these times when she hits it.

Eastwood has a very good player in Katie Dewyer. She hits well and can play anywhere. She is primary SS for Eastwood.
