Good post. I'll add the position change could be a big issue if it doesn't translate well to where she wants exposure. However, it may be very difficult to find another team at this point where she can get a lot of PT at her desired position.

Do college coaches stick around on Sundays there to watch the latter elimination games? I'm curious because we see a big dropoff on Sundays out here.

Usually the only people left late on Sundays are the teams playing, parents, and maybe concessions. The coaches are usually out of there early if they are there on Sundays.

I left that out intentionally. She is middle infielder with big arm, she has played LF, an she pitches too. I see her playing OF in college it the arm that e has, but se also has ns of potential as a pitcher!

I would have attack the outfield position if she has not been highly recruited as pitcher by 16 it probably is not going to happen. You could also contact teams of interest and offer to guest. I would say move quickly as you can. it sounds like they are running a business and do not have the girls as the first interest. They should have been helping the girls get recruited.

If I didn't see this, sorry but why is everyone leaving? Seems like the Titanic to me. Do you want to be the last one on the ship? Also, play the game because you love it. If you are chasing a college scholarship, good luck. As stated in previous posts, even if she is DI material, she might share one scholarship with several players. If you stay around, try out for the top tiered teams next year. If they offer you a spot, then you can rest a little better knowing they see the potential. Not saying you personally but how many times do you hear parents say their daughter hits a 400ft HR and pitches 65mph at 12 years old. Find your spot and love the game. The rest comes easy.

That is a great post! As a parent who played in college, not every kid is chasing a scholarship. When you have a kid who stays around late to help JV girls with their swing, or to set balls for them, who cares about the game, values every experience with the sport, I agree the rest should fall into place. There is a big difference between playing the game and playing because you want to play the best, be the best and you want the competition to make you a better player!

build a list of pro's and con's... then get her to do the same. Sit these 2 lists side-by-side with her future goals... If she doesn't have any, well, no time like the present. Build the difficult lists (in writing), evaluate, and then belly up to the bar of deciding on what to do. Collective parent-DD episode is needed.

We had almost the same situation with my dd. I left it up to her. I showed her where teams were looking, what they were looking for and let her choose. In the end she left her 14u team to go to a 16u team. She has never looked back and she is very happy. She is actually showing more leadership skills than I have ever seen out of her.
In the end I would let your dd decide.
If she's not happy , you won't have a happy summer at all and that's not worth it!
