There is borrowed from another thread in the less read College Section about Miss Sito. I have been watching with interest how she has been fairing in the SEC with the Georgia Bulldogs. She pitched her first game today, beating Campbell 10-1, striking out seven and giving up 2 hits.
She has been playing primarily 1st base and has contributed HEAVILY to their offensive output, a part of her game that seems overlooked. It's fairly well known who her pitching coach is- but who on earth taught her how to hit like this? Was it her father? Was it the Coaches with Elyria High? Her travel team?

I know this could be debated and this is not the thread for it but Sito is probably one of the top 3 players if not the best player ever to come from Ohio.

I'd agree with that, she's one of the best I've seen.

If you really want to know, e-mail her dad Jack at: jacksito@jacksitoinsurance.com
He is very personable and will answer any of your questions.
I'm sure it was a combination of people including Duane Sunagel (Sundogs), her father, and others :)

My guess is, she was at sometime given sound mechanics and she worked her A#@ off every year to become one of the best!

and some natural abilities that are not able to be taught. great hand eye coordination.

some people are just naturally better hitters. victor martinez would be an example. that guy can hit.

there are many that work hard, some just stand out head and shoulders above everyone else.

If not mistaken, before Tess came along, didn't Elyria have a dominant pitcher that lost her innings because of Sito?

Then there's that lol. Some people have god given talents and parent instilled work ethic. Just because you take hitting lessons from Tony Gwynn's hitting coach doesn't mean your going to hit like Tony.

I saw her pitch a few years ago for the Sun Dogs at Compuware. Her rise ball had cartoonish movement

Talk about how rise balls don't actually "rise"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=FepD83x0brI

Check out this video. Not only is it hilarious (Japanese shows crack me up) but when Jennie strikes this batter out you can see a perfect example of how a riseball doesn't have to be a high pitch to be effective. This ball simply has zero arc and flies right over the girls bat!

But I digress...
